To say a Springfield is Brazilian is certainly an incomplete statement. The steel might come from there, but assembly, fitting, and tuning is all done here in the States.
I would think it's commonly accepted that most any frame can be used to produce a darn fine 1911 in the right hands. Springfield has those hands.
If country of origin is such a big deal, then why do so many weapons that are cast, assembled, and boxed overseas have better reputations than American made weapons by Ruger, Colt, and Smith and Wesson? Let's not be selective in our use of "buy American"--either it matters or it doesn't. In the case of a good quality weapon, I don't think it matters much. Especially if I'm buying something that I have to depend on--gimme the best regardless of where it's made...
