Help: New gun safe

Any advice on what would be a good safe in the $500-$800 range that will hold around 15 guns and is fireproof? Does anyone have any experience with the Timber Ridge series made by Liberty for Gander Mountain?

Keep in mind that no safe in your price range will be "fire proof". It'll be fire resistant, probably up to about 30 minutes.

The Liberty Centurion 17 cu ft model will hold 15 long guns and a few hand guns. Or it will hold about 10 long guns and a dozen handguns, depending on how you arrange the interior. CostCo was selling them for $599 delivered and (I think) $699 installed. Liberty's website shows them at $699 so they're within your price range.

Suggestion: If you can afford it, order it with the optional electronic lock. Makes locking and opening the safe a lot easier.

I'm picking up the Winchester WAL-6030 12/24 gun safe this weekend. It is fire resistent and has an electronic lock. Sam's Club carries it for $581. I've been researching this for about 2 weeks now, and it is the best deal that I have found.

Yes, make that at about 1,200 deg F for about 30 minutes. At 1,500-2,000 or more deg F, for 5 minutes or more, all bets are off. Just depends on the fire's intensity at the point of the safe.

This weekend I'm planning on picking up another one of the "Winchester" safes from Sam's for $599 - it's 60x24x30 I think, and no fire resistance. Seems like a reasonable value however.

$581 plus tax here. 60X30X20 and it is fire resistant (1200 degrees for 32 minutes). I picked mine up last Saturday, and I am very pleased with it. :D

I bought a 12 to 24 Cannon gun safe from Academy about a month ago for $587. I've been real pleased with it so far. I thought the quality on the inside was a little better than the Winchester safe from Sams/Walmart for just $10 more, but know some other people on here found them for quite a bit less in other areas. You can put 12 guns on one side and leave the shelves on the other, or you can take the shelves out and open it up for 24 guns. However, I wouldn't be able to fit 12 scoped guns on one side. I was barely able to get 9 scoped guns on one side. I would go a little bigger than what you need now to give you some room for more guns in the future. You will also start finding other valuables that you will want to put in it besides guns once you get one.

My garage safe holds my ammo and 5 Long guns and a few handguns. It's the Winchester safe sold at Sam's Club. Not a bad deal for what I use it for.

Thanks for all the input, it was all very helpful. After a lot of consideration I decided to go with a 24H Diamond series available at http://www.zykansafe.com/diamondgunsafes.html. It is not the best "safe" out there but it was definately one of the best values for the money. Here is what set it apart from the others: locking bolts on 3 sides, 10 gauge steel (1/4" door) and it comes with a good mechanical lock.
