Help needed Id'ing a Colt Python

Hey fellows,

I have a NIB Colt Python 6" Stainless, serial number is PY 97xx. The gun is unfired, the grips are the Colt medallion original Pachmayrs. It also has the original blue plastic Colt hard-case, with both the manual and -FWIW- Colt's president letter of congratulations.

Well, I an guessing that since the manual shows a copyright date of circa 1993, the gun is at least 11 years old. However, I am just guessing here.

Does anyone know when the piece was manufactured and perhaps its current market value in such conditions as above?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Best regards,

Rocco

The publicly available serial numbers on Colt firearms end with 1985.

Since yours is post-85 the only way to find out the manufacturing date is to call Colt.
They will give you a production date over the phone, but NO other info.

For pricing, there are too many variables.

For a good idea, check the info in a current issue of The Blue Book of Gun Values, or look online at some of the gun selling sites like GunsAmerica, AuctionArms, or GunBroker.

Thank you for your answer, Mr. D.

I was afraid that besides R.L. Wilson's tables, there would not be any known sources of information other than Colt itself.

Your suggestion to look up the online auctions has been noted already, again I appreciate it.

Best regards,
