my wife has recently found a gun.... a stainless 10/22 with a stock that has a very defined grain and is dyed red/pink and green with the brown. acctually it looks much better than it sounds. what I can't figure out is why the store is charging $250 for a standard 10/22.... i can see a bit more due to the stainless.... but is this stock something special?

she has her heart set on it.... but I just can't justify getting a gun that I could get for nearly $100 less.... think of the aftermarket stuff you could get.... but since THIS one is "a damn sexy gun" I'm afraid that it will soon become a member of the family. Not that I am opposed to it that much...... :)

any ideas why it's priced so high? it's brand new at a scheels sports

The stock is laminated. It's made from layers of wood that are dyed various colors and then glued together with the grain of the woods running in a criss-cross pattern, like plywood. The laminated stock is more stable than a regular wood stock, less likely to warp. The colored layers increase the cool factor, and the price is related to the cool factor.

If it comes with a matching scope,it's a pretty good price. I paid that much for a blued version with laminated stock and scope for my son a year ago. I paid $230.00 for a stainless version with no scope and a synthetic stock two years ago.

heres the volquartsen laminated stock for sale:

Hang, if my wife wanted a firearm, I'd be saving my pesos and calling myself lucky. Come to think of it, my wife has fallen in love with a Colt Mustang pistol, so I'd better start working on it....

Thanks for reminding me...

I'd have to agree...I cant even get my fiancee to the range. If she suddenly suggested even a passing interest in a (loud/dangerous/stupid) gun - I would buy it on the spot.

Get her the rifle and quite worring about a $100. She will be happy and in the coming months I am sure something just may suit your needs :-) Sorta like a trade of, she gets her fashion stock. Maybe down the road you get a baby blue AR15 with a Floated barrel, I do hope you run home and paint it before taking yours to the range.

I would buy the gun even if I know it is over priced. Heck, it beats buying earings! Just grab that ass pocket and get her the gun....NOW! :-) Jim Hall

BUY IT! Maybe the next time you see something you like, she'll think it is overpriced. Consider yourself lucky that your wife shows interest in shooting.

Buy it!! Even overpriced by a hundred bucks it is cheaper than a pair of diamond earrings, or a diamond ring, or bracelet, or necklace!! Get the idea?

Buy the pretty lady her gaudy gun!!! ASAP!!!!!

I vote with those who would buy it for her anyway. I wish my wife would take more of an interest, so if she liked a firearm, I'd ignore the price difference ... ;)

Thanks to everyone..... I guess I'll just have to hide the purchase on the Credit card for a month and surprise her for her birthday.... she'll sure be heart broken when it disappears from the store..... hehehe... but when she finds out it has been hiding under the bed.... it'll all be good

Hey, BJ 426
That is a great idea and while you are at the shop check out what they have in say an AR15, Christmas is just around the corner.

just thought it would be appropriate to post an update.... the store is holding the gun for me till the big day ... or whenever I want.... they wouldn't budge on the price.... but would give me $20 off if I bought a scope.... so... since my wife likes open sights........ looks like I'm gettin a new scope!
