Pelican makes hard rifle cases. They weigh a bit and are large, but strong in case of a drop or an oops a daisy. Lots of protection for the rifle. You can cut the top layer of foam to fit the rifle, a good idea. They fall into the line of Browning, Creedmoor Sports, and Doskocil. There should be a valve for adjusting the pressure in the case, if that is how I have read it. I use a Doskocil hard case for my PSS. About half the price of a Pelican, does just about the same thing.
Plus there will be room in these cases for the essentials: cleaning rod, bore guide, and if you choose, a small box for cleaning equipment. I cut the foam in mine for the rifle, cleaning rod handle, bore guide, action tools, torque wrench, and a box of ammo.
I would recommend avoiding the quick release rings if you want this rifle for a precision tool. Remember like all things, you get what you pay for. The quality rings and bases will run about $150 to $175 on up, but they will not let you down. Good mounts ain't cheap.
Having too many moving parts is not good, too many varibles to break. The scope should be in the same place everytime.
I would invest in a torque wrench. You want the rifle set the same every time it has to come out of the stock. Check your local Sears and try the Craftsman wrench (in inch lbs), and buy the proper bit for the stock screws.
I would suggest giving Sinclair Intl a look for cleaning supplies.
