Help me pick one...TC Icon or Browning X-bolt

Caliber would be 243 for deer or wild hog in Germany...but I am not sure if the Icon or the X-bolt should get the nod...if it makes any difference, I am biased towards the Icon, as my Triumph muzzleloader is dead-nuts accurate adn it's made in America...;)

The X Bolt is a great gun, they shoot great and look very sharp for a hunting rifle. That said the Icon is more like a 1500 dollar gun than a 800 dollar gun, the wood is amazing on them and they have very good accuracy. Also a lifetime warrenty from America. Icon gets my vote.

My Icon Precision Hunter .204 Ruger shot .375 @100 yards with commerical ammo out of the box, fit, finish, trigger all excellent.

The Icon is very well made. But the X-Bolt is so friggin' slick; slicker than snot on a brass door knob. X-Bolt for me.

How much does your Precision Hunter weigh? I am interested in seeing how it compares against the synthetic stocked weathershield model.

I have an Icon Precision Hunter in .308. It's a fairly heavy rifle (8 lbs stripped and empty). But it is by far one of the best if not the best rifle I have shot so far.

Every one of my friends who have shot it absolutely loved it. Everything about it is just superb.

3, 4 shot groups at 100 yards. Absolutely nothing done to the rifle other than slapping a scope on it.

While I have not shot an Icon Precision Hunter, T/C Icons are getting rave reviews in the accuracy department. That said, X-Bolts shoot pretty darn well, too. There is a small price difference, so pick whatever works well for you and feels right.

I just put mine on my postal scale 11lbs 3oz with scope, they are listed at 8+lbs on website however more like 10, heavy rifle but that is what I want because most of the shooting I do is from the bench, trigger by the way is super much like my Savage 12 BTVS accu-trigger.

I bought the Icon about 5 months ago and it's amazing accurate. It makes even me seem like a good shot. I've had no trouble at all getting groupings 1" and less as long as I do my part. My only small complaint is I wish the adjustable trigger could be set lower. I think it breaks at 3lbs at it's lightest setting, which isn't bad at all, but I'd really like mine at 2. I also ended up replacing the 'butter knife' bolt handle with the more traditional ball. Other than that it's been a great gun.

Thanks for checking the weight, Wingman...that helps a lot. :)

Hunterguy - very nice pics....I will definately check out what kind of deal my local gun-club can get for me.:D

Here's a my only 3 shot group I had at 200 yards yesterday. Went there to help a friend sight in his new A-Bolt in .300wsm. After he was done and it was getting late i broke out my bang stick to see what I could do.

I certainly humbled him with the results.

The first shot was the top right one. Cold bore, clean barrel. The gun does hold tighter groups with a dirty barrel.

What brand ammo?

Had my Icon out this morning shot 30 rounds majority of groups were under .400 @100 yards, hand loads using Berger 40 gr and Hornady 40gr Vmax.

Simply an outstanding rifle which appears to like a variety of loads.

I've been shooting Hornady's Superperformance in 150grains. I haven't tried a 168 grain bullet in it yet and am curious to see if it shoots any better with a heavier bullet.

I've been reading of some bad groups with the super performance in 308 but yours appears excellent. The commerical vmax ammo and there bullets(reloads) are just perfect in my Icon I've always been a Berger bullet fan but appears I will be loading more Vmax for the Icon.
