I have a DPMS Panther 308. I am going to be using this between 100 and 200 yards for hunting deer. The barrel is a 1/10 twist. Does anyone out there have one of these guns if so what round works well for you. Thanks in advance

I do not hunt any more but Federal Gold 168 and 175 gr. ammo works fine.

You can roll your own and make them work any way you want.

I have an LR308 and I shoot quite a bit of DAG surplus through it and regularly hit the 300 and 200 yard gongs with it.

I have an EOTech sight on mine and am pretty sure the rifle would shoot better with a scope.

150 grain Winchester Power Points, Remington Corelockts or Federal Power-shok. Any will work fine for deer.

Art,

Do you find some rifles that just do not like 150-155 gr. bullets?

My LR308 and M1A will shoot them but my R700P is all over the map with them.

I have not been able to beg, borrow or steal a good load for that rifle with 150-155 gr. bullets.

Any ideas?

With the 155 gr. BT I cannot even load one into the lands. I just start one in the case and chamber the round and it does not touch.

A flat base bullet might. I do not want to buy a bunch of them and find they do not work.

Wingnutt,
I guess I am not the only Winger here :D

I have DPMS LR308 AP4 and have had very good accuracy out of 150 gr. bullets,I am sure the heavier gr. bullets would work well also with a bit more recoil.

I really like my DPMS

My savage shoots the cheaper ammo just fine, by cheaper I mean silverbox winchester 150 gr pp. Sure I dont get one ragged hole but I do get .5-.7 inch groups at 100. Shot my doe this year at 250 yards and it was DRT.

Edit: I buy my shells at wally world. And as long as you can get 1-12 inch groups at 100 you should be able to hit deer.
