Help me out ... attaching a sling to an AR platform

There are so many options and possibilities, my head is spinning.

I've just about decided on a 2 point tactical.
Problem is, I have no rail system on the forearm.

I do have a short rail on top of the gas block.
I think it's for an iron sight mount.
But I have an EOTech and don;t plan on installing one.

I figured out I need two of these (one on top and one on bottom) to go on the existing foream.

To install them, I'll need these tools ...

The sling I'm looking at is this one ...

The stock has slots to feed the sling through. Not an issue there.

Where I need coaching is on the front mount.
The rails referenced above will go on top and bottom.
What kind of mount do I need to make this all work and be balanced.

What I'd really like is a quick release system like this.

I can fabricate a rear mount in the stock.
But I can't figure out where to find the stud they attach to.
And I'm not sure it will work OK mounted on top or bottom of the forearm.

Any help is appreciated ...

It depends what handuard style you have. NOt knowing what exactly it looks like, it's hard to say yay or nay to the parts you've posted.

A drop in two piece quad rail is a simple way to go, and gives you a myriad of ways to mount a two point. Just pick your sling mount.

I prefer a single point myself, Magpul MS2 mounted on an ASAP plate at the front of the buffer tube. YOu can lengthen and use the sling pretty seamlessly as a two point if you are in a pinch.

In the past, I used a Vickers Two point sling with a Daniel defense mount in the same spot as the ASAP plate, and a matching sling mount mounted on the left side of the rail, almost to the front sight. Good system, but after playing with a friend's MS2, there was no going back.

Been running the MS2 exclusively for almost two years now.

Give us some more info on the handguard, hopefully we can make a recommendation.

Do you have a picture of your AR15?

Does your gas block have a quick attachment slot?

Or you could buy a drop in handguard with the quick detach slot.
Here's a picture of mine. I can attach on the rail or on the gas block.

You don't need the DPMS tool to undo the handguard.

The TAPCO tool would make it easier but I have taken handguards with out them.

If you go with the rail, check midway usa. Here's the link.

You could probably find cheaper ones but it should give you an idea.

Another option would be a quad rail gas block. In my short search, I haven't found one in .750.

I'm really wanting to keep the weight down as much as possible. I've handled a few ARs that had the quad rail forearm and thought it awefully heavy.

I don't ever forsee adding lasers, grips, lights, coolers, beer dispenser or plasma screen ...

How do you carry on your back with a single point and not have it flopping around?

The rail you are looking at would work. Just put one on the bottom handguard (don't need one on top) and attached a quick detach sling like the one here.

If you want more options take a look at Magpul. Easy switch to MOE handguard and it gives you more options on the front sling attachment.

You're right, there are way too many options. :D

You don't need the tools you mentioned to install a sling mount.

Heck, if I were you, I'd put a Magpul RSA on that gas block and put an HK hook on the front end of your sling.

Thanks for the responses ... thanks for the video link very helpful. I'm a visual kinda person. I need to see it work to fully understand.

DnPRK ... Every 4 rail gas block I've found is on backorder. My gun a DPMS, if that matters.

Marquez ... I figured that I would install a rail on top and bottom whiile I had it apart.

Thanks Blacksky ... is there a threaded stud that I can get seperatly that will accept the quick disconnect? Are they standard or are they vendor specific?

RR5 ... you don't know how tempted I ma to do just that. I wanted to keep the top rail on the gas block clear for an iron sight ... but right now, I can't think of a good reason.

Loop of paracord double half hitched around the barrel @ the gas block and attach your sling to the loop. Just don't get the gas block so hot it melts the cord.
I prefer a 2 point with the strap running along the left side with a slider. Lets me hang the rifle across my chest when riding the ATV or walking through tall weeds/deep snow or hang vertical if I don't want the muzzle sweeping the area in carry mode. Adjustable over the shoulder strap gives room to put it on over winter coats and then one tug adjusts the fit plus a single quick release dismounts the rifle instantly.
I chase coyotes/varmints rather than terrorists or badguys so my needs are somewhat different. I do spend quite a lot of time with an AR strapped on while getting lots of fresh air and exercise.
