Hello,
My friend gave m this gun. I have no idea the caliber, or anything about it, I was hoping someone here would be able to help. I do know its a break back, 5 shot. Here are the pictures:

I took the grips off and here is what I believe is stamped under them:

24 2 35

Maybe someone can help me identify this...

Looks like an H&R topbreak to me but the grips are obviously a "kustom" feature. Should have info on the top rib of the barrel, if not the caliber on the side of the barrel.

On the top i cleaned it off and it revealed...

Diver Johnson's Arms and Cycle Shop
Fittsburgh Mass. USA

Hopefully this is a lead....

It looks like a Safety Hammer Automatic, in either 32 S&W or 38 S&W; the markings should read "Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass." with patent dates underneath. It may not be in firing condition, and you should have it checked out if you intend to shoot it.

.38 S&W lead bullet ammo is readily available at shops. Not .38 Special, if you know the difference. Better have it checked by someone to see if it is in firing condition. If it is loose it will only get looser on firing and maybe break! It is not a terrible brand but I would feel safest shooting one that is about mint condition myself. They are pretty old you know.
