Have you pulled the forearm and barrels off to look for proof marks? No name or country of origin on the barrels?
Sadly, she's in SoCal w/ the weapon, and I'm in Arkansas.
I'm having her go over it with a fine tooth comb to try to find any sort of serial # or writing.
I was hoping the butt plate design might be recognizable. Initially I want to say it's a Remington 1887 but I'm not certain.

The hammer profile sure looks like the 1887 Remington, IMHO.
