First this statement.

A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was found with two magazines containing 70 rounds of Winchester 12-gauge shotgun rounds.

The Shotgun was a Siaga 12GA

So I know they make magazines in 12GA for the Siaga in 5, 12RD, and 20RD.
I am unsure of any others. Please explain how you can get 70 rounds out of what I assume from the report as 3 magazines and the largest drum types hold 20 rounds each ?

The news media couldn't care less with accuracy. If it appears to be the same as a 30 round AR magazine then it obviously has to hold 30 rounds of 12 guage. At least that is what they seem to believe. Take the Saiga 20 round magazine and hold next to a 30 AR magazine and see if they are close in appearance. To be honest I have never seen a 20 round Saiga magazine but have seen many 30 round AR mags.

The 20 round Siaga mag is a drum magazine. The 14 round looks 4 or 5 inches longer then a 5.56mm 30 rounder.

The only thing I am really after here is if there is a 12GA Saiga magazine that I don't know about. I just can't figure out how 3 mags hold 70 rounds from what I know of them.

3 x 20s = 60 rounds
3 x 30s = 90 rounds
2 x 30s + a 10 = 70, but I am unaware of 30round and 10 round mags for the 12GA Saiga.

The .410 Saiga does have a 30 round drum.

I'm wondering if they aren't calling ammo cans magazines just like some people call magazines clips. Seventy 12-gauge shotgun shells are both big and heavy.
