HELP! M44 bolt problem

Help! I just took my Russian M44 to the range and was able to fire about 20 rounds before the bolt locked up. The bolt handle will not rotate up completely so I can pull it back and extract the casing from the last round I fired. I am assuming that the bolt is somehow hung up on the shell. I put the rifle in a padded vise and pulled like crazy, but it wont budge.

I was using what I was told was russain ammo. It looks just like steel cased Wolf ammo, but it came wrapped brown paper and string.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance...

Disregard

Nevermind,

I few taps with a cleaning rod and some WD-40 loosened up the stuck shell from the chamber and opened up the bolt. I believe that the problem may have been that I did not remove all the grease from the chamber area. Well, its plenty grease free now. I'll take it back to the range next week to see how it does.

Oops!

It took me several hours to remove the obvious cosmoline deposits on my M44, and it will still sweat grease when it's out in the sun. It's pretty nasty, but I love the carbine.

I've had the same problem with Czech lacquered ammo in my Chinese M53 (M44 clone). Still happens even after much cussing and scrubbing of the chamber. Barnaul (also lacquered) doesn't seem to have this problem. I've bought some brass-cased stuff by the case, but haven't dynamited my way into the packaging yet.

There is some 7.62x54R ammo, bullet with yellow/silver color code, which has tendency to do this kind of things to all of my
MNs (5) w/o exception. It's a heavy ball (181gr.) and said to be machine gun ammo. I'm staying away from it, although it's pretty
accurate...
