Help! Locking block fell off of barrel on my Beretta 92FS!

I was cleaning my 92FS, (the barrel specifically), when the locking block literally fell off of the barrel! I was able to slide the locking block back in, and it seems to be functioning/moving as it always has. I don’t think this is a problem or a sign of a failing part, I’m almost sure that the locking block is supposed to come off of the barrel in this manor, but I want to be sure. Does anyone have any experience with this?

All is right w/ your Beretta. This is an easy piece to remove and replace. No harm done.

What I'd like to know is... how can something that just falls off with no effort at all be so tricky to put back on? I'm getting tired of chasing those things out from under the workbench! :)

JJR,

I know what you mean, it took me about 3-5 minutes to get the locking block back on the barrel. It was like trying to solve a puzzle. It fell off so easy, you think it would just slide right it. I could swear I heard the Jeopardy theme music playing in the background while I worked on getting back on.

I'm not sure I would shoot it anymore. It may not be safe anymore. I can pay $25 or $30 for the gun even though it is all broke.

heh.

i was a bit confused when it fell out on my 92G Elite since it can't come out (don't know why) on my 92FS but i just popped it back in and it works fine.
