help - KAHR OR GLOCK 9MM

I tried both guns and really like them both, but I can only buy one or them. I tried out a K9 and a G19. Both felt great. I like the looks (stainless) and the grip on the K9 better, but can't decide on which gun would be the better gun. Any help would be great. I am not asking anyone to decide for me, I just want to buy the best of the two guns and thought a little advice would help me out. THANKS!!

Being the proud owner of a G19, I would say: EITHER ONE!:D

Seriously, I don't think you'll make a mistake any way you go. They're both fine pistols.

The G19 will hold more bullets.

The Kahr has a longer, smooth DAO trigger pull.

Which trigger and grip angle combination do you prefer?

For carry, Kahr, for home, Glock. Reliablity: Glock has a tiny edge. Trigger: matter of taste. Recoil: similar. Grip shape: Kahr. Thickness: Kahr.

It will have to be decided by your preferences on this one. Both are fantastic firearms. I chose a K-9 over a Glock (G26 in my case). My reasons were:

1. K-9 grip was MUCH better for me (I have smaller hands)
2. Thinner for CCW
3. For defensive use, I liked the longer, slightly heavier K-9 trigger pull. Others might prefer the shorter Glock pull.
4. It's a personal failing, but I can't get used to a plastic gun ;) There is just something about my electroless nickel K-9 with Hogue wood grips...

I forget what the weight of each is loaded, but I don't think there is much difference in weight between a fully loaded Glock and K-9. The Glock holds more rounds though, i.e. the K-9 is a little heavy for it's capacity/size.

If my reason #4 doesn't apply, you might want to look at a P-9 also. The P-9 grip is not as hand filling as the K-9, but it gives new meaning to light and thin CCW. Also try to rent one of each to help you decide.

Enjoy your choice. Hard to go wrong either way!

It's really not comparing apples to apples. The Glock is taller, longer and wider with a larger capacity. The Kahr is slimmer and easier to conceal. I have a Glock 23 and Kahr K40 and love them both. You won't regret either one but they are different guns entirely. If you are going to do a lot of "plinking" I think the Glock would make you happier. If comfortable, concealed carry and occasional plinking is the intention, I think you'd be happier with the Kahr. The trigger on the Kahr was a little more difficult for me to master. It's smooth as butter but I'm tempted to "stage" it instead of pulling straight through. They are both made with precision and mine have been 100% reliable. If you can mangage, get them both.

Newbird, you're going to have the gun for a long time, so get the one that is most comfortable in your hand. My stainless K9 is every bit as reliable as my Glock 27, the DAO trigger is very nice and it feels rock-solid. You can get the Glock 19 later on. If you like polymer, another good one is the new HS2000. For me at least, it feels much better than the Glock 19. The only thing I don't like about the HS2000 is the lack of "normal" capacity magazines. The Beretta, CZ-75 and Taurus 92 15-rounders don't work in mine. :(

Well, I was looking into a Kahr for on-duty back up carry but it seems that Kahr isn't interested in answering my e-mail. I e-mailed them last Thursday to inquire about a law enforcement distributor in Georgia and LE pricing and still haven't gotten a reply. Glock has always bent over backwards to help me with information and/or service that I needed.

I really like the feel of the Kahr but after reading posts on this board about poor customer service and then not getting a timely reply to my information request I am very skeptical about buying one. Looks like it's hit or miss with Kahr lately.

I haven't completely ruled out Kahr but it looks like I may end up with another Glock on my ankle. Oh well... Much worse things could happen. :D

Rainbow Six: Try giving Kahr a call. They're better at answering the phone than e-mail.

As for Kahr or Glock, they're both good guns. The Glock has higher capacity, but is harder to conceal due to its thickness. I'm not a fan of the Glock trigger (yes, I have 2 Glocks, still don't like the Glock trigger).

The Kahr is thinner and has a longer, smoother trigger. If the K9 is too heavy, you might consider the Kahr P9.

The post above by weldonjr2001 is right on the money. I have a Kahr K-40 Stainless and a Glock 26. I give the edge to the Kahr but I do prefer the Glock trigger. Now there's an idea for the perfect CCW handgun, a Kahr with a Glock trigger.:)

M1911,

Actually, I sent another inquiry this morning and got a reply today, along with an apology and contact information to two different LE distributors that can assist me, although neither is in GA.

You mentioned you liked the looks and the grip of the K9 better..so it looks like you've almost made up your mind. Both are good weapons.

When I buy a weapon I usually go with my initial impressions. Buying one and deciding later that you just liked the other one, even if it is a cosmetic difference can end up costing you $100 or more in a trade. Just like a car, a New weapon loses its value the moment you purchase it.
