I bought this shotgun in 1990 and never really thought about it much. Dug it out of the closet and decided to find out some information on it. It's a old Remington sportsman, 18 inch barrel three shot magazine semi automatic. I've attached some pictures and hopefully somebody out there can give me some information on it.

The long-recoil operated Sportsman was made from 1931-49, and only issued with a 26" bbl - yours is evidently dated as being made in 1943.

It's a Remington Model 11 variant. Fine old shotgun. JMB design, so enter the receiver at your own risk.

As with all pre WWII shotguns, a visit to Mr Gun Smith is mandatory. A checkover and deep clean from the smith is good PM.

Few A5 parts are interchangeable, but the friction pieces and springs are. A new set of each is cheap insurance.

Inside the forearm should be a diagram of how to set the rings for light or heavy loads.

Enjoy....

The give away is the picture of the left side reciever showing the cartridge stop. The thing on the left side of reciever in second picture.
