Help ID Colt revolver

BOP222

Greetings all..was in the local pawn shop today and the owner showed me something he just took in...and as we were looking at the Blue Book he had, just couldn't find exactly what he had listed so I'm turning to you all.....

BBL is marked New Frontier Buntline 22...7 1/2" in length, black Colt grips..all appears to be original...serial number is G175XXX. Adjustable rear sights, flat top frame...SA only....

The Blue Book lists a Buntline Model but not in 22..it also lists a New Frontier, but again, not in 22. And unless I'm looking in the wrong areas, can't find anything listing a G prefix on the serial number...

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

It is listed under "Scout Model SAA." after the section on real centerfire SAAs.

G prefix is correct for a New Frontier .22. Most were LR-WMR convertible from 1970 -1977. They were reintroduced in LR only in 1982 - 1986 with a crossbolt safety under the loading gate.

My Blue Book is out of date, maybe you can find its price in his now.

My Blue Book is a bit out of date, but it shows the NF with a top (NIB) price of $500 and a 15% premium for the Buntline. In my experience, a seller would be lucky to get that at retail, as there is not a high demand for those guns, at least in this area.
