Help ID ammo

My bro in law was recently given a coffee can full of ammo. About 250 rounds of what appears to be 223. The headstamp doesn't contain a caliber stamp. Just LC98 and a circle with a + in it. I believe this to be 5.56 NATO from lake city from 1998. Am I correct. There was also 2 Adventure line mags. I traded for 2 boxes of 9mm ammo. Also what are the quality of the mags.

Yes, you are correct, assuming it's factory ammo and hasn't been reloaded.

The crimped primers on the LC brass with the FMJ bullet should give you a good idea if the ammo has not been reloaded.

I've used the Adventure Line mags. If not mistaken, they were G.I. contract mags along with Sanchez and Parsons marked mags. Don't recall any real issues with any of mine using FMJ.

Just recently upgraded all mine with Magpul followers to improve feeding with both SPs and HPs.

He was gonna give it to me but he's new to shooting and has a 9mm and I offered the 100 rounds without seeing it. He did some ac work for the lady and she goes to the same church he does. Apparently it was her ex husband who left her. She possibly has 4 more cans she said he could have that I will possibly get.
