help ID a gun

Hello,

This pistol belonged to my father in law and I have no idea what it is.

It appears to be a .22 centerfire single shot.

there are no markings on it at all.

If anybody has any idea, I would really appreciate it.

That series was made for many years, starting in 1864, but that one looks like the so-called "pocket rifle" made 1869-1886. The caliber was .22 Short or Long. The shiny knob is not original, nor are the grips.

There were some .22 CF cartridges in use in that era in the U.S. but I doubt they would have been used in that pistol.

it is similar to ones i have found online but not exact.

would they have not put any markings on it?

Had me thinking this was a copy of some sort.

but i cant imagine why you would want to copy it lol.

the grips are different than the pictures I have found online

but i did find one that is close

I took the grips off and found some numbers. 91768 d6331

weird lol

Ill see if I can get a good picture
