Help, I think I have gone over the PC cliff!

On the local TV news just now, there was report of a shooting of a pizza delivery driver. There are few clues as to who the assailant is. They don't even know what sex the person is who committed this heinous crime, but they referred to the shooter as a "gunman." I am tired of this BS! If mailmen have to now be called "letter carriers," firemen have to be called "firefighters," and etc etc etc.

You get the idea.

Why is the term "gunman" still allowed in this PC world that we live in? Is it okay, because it is only male bashing?

Does anyone else feel this way?

Should I call Dr Laura? :)

Joe

The terms Policeman and Fireman were changed to their current PC equivalent when women, having successfully stepped into the traditionally male occupations, demanded it. They were proud to be firefighters and police officers and rightfully insisted on being referred to as such.

I doubt that the term "gunman" will change for the same reasons.

Your PC friend,
TheBluesPerson

Joe:

In reading your tagline for this post, I was daydreaming that you were driving the bus off the cliff, and your passengers included: Schumer, Feinstein, Boxer Lautenberg, Gore, Klinton x 2, Cuomo, Brady, Bradley, the whole CA Democratic legislature, HCI Inc and it's despicable Dennis Henigan-their top lawyer, Sharon Stone, Spike Lee, BigA*s Rosie (she was in the hog trailer being towed behind), Reno---whew, outta breath-- well, you get the idea. It was a big damn bus.

Sorry I had to wake up. ;) Happy Trailways to you...

The term "gunman" is a cleaver may to demonize the gun by connecting it with the acts of criminals. It doesn't matter who the criminal is, he/she used a gun...he/she is a "gunman". It confuses audiences into making a subconsious decision that all crimes are somehow related to guns. It doesn't matter that the person committing the crime is just a "criminal", the term "gunman" gives the elitist controlled media a free ticket to propagandize the anti-gun agenda.

Recently, on our local television news here, during a story about a stabbing crime, the graphics next to the talking head was of a handgun. Is that an innocent mistake, or a subliminal message?

You're crackin' me up, man. :D

Rant mode on:

Make sure that bus is big enough to include:

The entire Executive Branch
The entire Legislative Branch
The entire Judicial Branch
The entire Cabinet
Every one of the alphabet soup of fedgov agencies
Everyone in Hollywood who doesn't own 5 guns, at least 1 of which is a handgun.

Rant mode off.

I thought I was the only one that bothered. I agree that is it is wrong. If someone attacked a person with a sword it wouldn't make them a swordsman would it ?

I still get steamed when they refer to the Columbine killers as "gunmen." They had two guns and 95 bombs.

Last night 20/20 aired a piece on two kids who shot one of their teachers. The interview took place in the jail they're in. And this really steams me as well. They're giving these POS a national audience, which I'm sure includes some other POS who will get ideas of their own. Certainly 20/20 has a 1st Amendment right to air what they please, but can't they see that they're contributing to a copycat syndrome? Or do they even care, since
they'll have more killings down the road to do stories on?

End of rant.

Dick
