Help for a new 10/22 owner

I just bought a new Ruger 10/22. It's a great little tack driver! I was wondering what modifications other 10/22 owners put on their weapons. I've got a sling and a decent 6x scope for it. Also, my rifle has a seriously heavy trigger pull. Any recommendations on reducing that? Also, anyone know where I can get 30 round magazines for fairly cheap for it? The cheapest I've seen are $60 bucks! Pretty steep for a plastic mag. Any help and useful knowledge would be great!!

You can pretty much forget about finding any cheap hi-cap mags.
Nobody can make them anymore and being plastic, those presently in existence will have a shorter life span than a metal mag would.
Some of the hi-cap mags I've seen at gun shows recently cost as much as the rifle itself!
 
Ditto on finding cheap hi-cap mags. I put in a synthetic stock with pistol grip and use it to compete at the local range 22 shoots. It's fun to shoot and has given my son and I lots of fun time together at the range. Hope you enjoy yours as much as mine.
 
Who made that gizzie that allowed you to attach 2 or four factory ten round mags together? A friend had several of these set up which seemed to work well when the turtles were in the wire. This may prove to be an alternative to $60 Ram Lines. Are you guys serious about these prices? Makes me think that I should have invested seriously in magazines instead of firearms and the market!

As mentioned above, Volquartsen makes a drop in trigger for the 10/22 that is great. They also make a replacement target hammer that makes the pull lighter by about 30% but I would resist the urge to save money and go ahead and get the complete trigger kit. Not only will it be lighter, but it will have a crisp letoff. I found that with the target hammer alone, there was still a lot of creep.

Making your stock bolt release into a quick release is actually an easy operation with a Dremel(-type) tool. After buying an aftermarket one, I do all of the release modifications myself now-a-days. Lightening the trigger is easy too *but could be dangerous if you go too far*. Eliminating the slack and creep is a little harder. It's easier to buy an adjustable trigger that doing it yourself (at least for me).
