I finally have found that strange combination of both time AND money thanks to a new job. Naturally, that means new gun:D . I had my mind all made up that this new gun would be a Springfield Champion. Well my beloved gun shop just happened to be out of them and that dirty SOB salesdude put a Kimber ultra carry in my hand. Forgot all about the Champion for a few minutes and then I looked at the price tag. A little more than I was wanting to spend but hey they do have lay-a-way with great terms. I also looked at the Para's and the new Colts. Somehow, I left without anything. Returned the next day only to find that my cousin now works there and he has me leaning towards a Para S13. I would very much appreciate any suggestions for a commander sized 1911. I prefer the grip feel of a double stack .45 but generaly shoot a little better with a single stack 1911. I haven't quite ruled out a Glock 30 either. Concealed carry is a must, but really don't want to go smaller than commander sized because of my meaty paws. Oh, and it must be .45acp. At least I have the caliber ironed out. If anyone can help, it is you guys and gals so won't you be so kind as to make up my mind for me?

If you already like the Para, get that. But if you're looking for suggestions, I'll add my two cents. Personally, I have learned to really like the USP line of pistols from H & K. In your case, I'd recommend the USPc 45 Stainless.
You get out of box reliability, durability & accuracy bar none. Plus, they're fun to shoot too ;)

For a Commander-sized 1911, I like the Kimber guns. If funds are not an issue, I like the Kimber Pro CDP. It already has night sights, as well as front and back strap checkering. The only think I changed was the grips, I added smooth, thin grips for carry purposes.
If $900 is too much, look at their Kimber Pro. Both are alloy framed, which doesn't bother me. I think it makes for comfortable carry. Contrary to what is said, recoil is fine, and there seems to be no extra wear at this point.
If a steel frame is more to your taste, they also have the Kimber Eclipse Pro, which has a very cool finish, and the Kimber Pro HD. As you may have figured by now, "Pro" is Kimberspeak for "1911 commander". Silly trade marks.
