I'm buying a Barrett 82A1. The standard scope sold by Barrett is a Leupold Mk4 4.5X14 50mm.

I will be shooting at 1000 yds. Do I need a better scope??

I want something good and I don't want to settle for this scope if it's not going to satisify my shooting needs (especially since I'm spending $7800+).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Manufacturer, models, accessories comments would be greatly appreciated!!!

Money is not much of a concern at this point.

TIA

The Leupold MK4 4.5-14X50mm scope is fine and will suit your needs for 1,000yds. Thats what I use on my issued M82A1. The scope maxes out of elevation around 1,600-1,700m depending on ammo for me. If you are going to shoot farther then 1,000yds I would suggest maybe bumping up to a fixed 16X Leupold MK4 or a Vari-X III LR in 8.5-20X50mm. If you want to try something besides Leupold look at the scopes made by Nightforce. Leupolds my personal favorite, so I dont know much about the specifics of the Nightforce line, but I do know they are top end scopes and very popular with the .50 caliber crowd. Leupold and Nightforce are what dominate the long range and .50 caliber community. As for magnification I would stick with at least 14X, you can get away with 10X but 14X or higher is better in my opinion. Hope this helps.

If money is really not a concern and you want the best, look at the S&B PMII line and the USO SN-3. At about half their cost are the NF and Leupolds which are still good choices.
