All,
I used a Break-Free product called Powder Blast to clean my SIG P230 .32 ACP and it melted my grips!! As many of you know, this is a rare pistol, out of production & the SIG folks told me today that I'm SOL on replacement grips!

Any ideas from anyone on where to source replacement grips for this pistol?? Thanks in advance!!

As matter of fact, I remove my SIG grips everytime I slaughter the gun with Motorex Guncare spray. This stuff is deadly, and it says so on the package.

Also, we habitually clean our SIG assault rifles with that stuff, and it keeps our gun barrels clean like nothing else. Just remove all plastic before cleaning...

gr8, I'm going to assume that you have the .32 that has the metal lanyard slot at the mag well on the left side. I streaked my grips up with gun scrubber. Sig was no help. Ordered a new set from RBGunparts. Right grip will fit; left grip(lanyard side) will not. The grips you get for a standard 230 will not work on these police guns because the left grip is not notched for the safety. Couldn't find one place that had the proper(notched) grip. Ended up tediously polishing out the streaks with oooo steel wool. Polishing will just shine the grips up a little and take away their original matte finish.

hornet,
Thanks for the info. and I apologize for my obvious brain gas(I hate the word fart):) I forgot it was a .32 and probably one of the police overruns.

hornet, did the left grip appear identical except for the safety and lanyard cutouts?

Another option is to try and deal direct with Europe instead of SigArms here. I'm sure they have plenty of spare grips for these guns since they are made for police contracts.

You may also want to check with Gun Parts Corporation and see if they have grips for one of these overrun pistols.

Also, post this over at www.sigforum.com and I'm sure some of the German members there might be able to help you. C. Swimm comes to mind on that. He is a true Sigaholic and also has an excellent Sig homepage. http://home.t-online.de/home/cswimm/ will get you to his site.

The grips I got from RB were identical to the ones that came on the gun, except they did not have the lanyard and safety cutout on the left one. When I ordered them, I thought I might get a pair with the Sig name on them, but not so. Just matte black checkered plastic. Also, when I asked the Sig rep if they had a solution for the occasional rim over mag problem, she said no and that the gunsmith had told her these police guns were designed for FMJ only; no HP.

Spackler, No I'm not a cop.....50 yr. old retiree. Kinda funny though, the group I shoot with, from time to time, is all cops.
