Hi, I've been wanting an AR-15 for a couple of months now. In the past
week or so I've been reading a lot about it, so finally I purchased one online
and I should be picking it up from the gun shop maybe next Tuesday.
Budsgunshop send me an e-mail telling me that I have to inspect the AR before
accepting the transfer.
Can you guys give me any tips on what to look for and how to perform the
inspection?

By the way is a Smith & Wesson "Sport", NY complaint... no flash suppressor and with fixed butt stock.

Thank you in advance.

Good weapons!

If your buying new, I'm sure there isnt too much to worry about.

First, if you have experience with ar15's, make sure all the parts are there. If you don't, ask someone at the gun shop to take a look. Second, brake it down and look in the barrel at a light. (back of the barrel please!) It should be mice and shiney. There should be no big blemishes in the barrel. once your done with that Preform a function check. (put it togather, charge the weapon, squeeze the trigger in a safe direction, keep the trigger pulled down, charge it again with the trigger still pulled, release the stigger, you should here a small thump, squeeze the trigger again.) If this works and your FFL says he doesnt see any problems, its probably ok.

Your FFL will also do a very through look if they are any good.

Ensures all the stuff is right for their data as well as opportunity for you to look over and discuss any issues or questions.

The FFL usually has a lot of experience and knows an obvious problem.

If possible a mfg rep FFL is great as they also want to ensure all is correct.
