Heavy magnum advice wanted

Iv placed an order for a Ruger Super Redhawk chambered in 454, 7,5" barrel. BUT, it turns out that the dealer are having trouble getting them over here. Im a Norwegian for those who has missed that. All the heavy magnums are in backorder over here.

Im willing to concider going for a SM 460 or a DW 445 or Freedom Arms or whatever...

Im not Richy Rich, so I cant use like a pile of money, but Iv saved up enough to get that Ruger. I guess a Smith would be a little bit more pricy though. Ill sell my Glock 24c and some of the other dust collectors aswell. Dont know what I was thinking buying that Glock. But it was cheap, too cheap to let it be. Im a gunoholic....

Have a great one....

Im a gunoholic....
admitting it is the first step. ;)

Over the last year I've seen more and more Revolver's fill the stores. They were all empty where I live. I think any of the Guns you listed would be great to own, the Free Arms would be in the Richy Rich category for me. Maybe a little more patience is needed because where I shop the Ruger's are easier to get then S&W's or DW's.

Sorry but for me that is the state of things currently.

Big Bore Beast

Hello,
Sounds like you've done some homework. There's always the Taurus line as well that tends to be less expensive and in my experience, still very well built guns. The Raging Bull line is available in many ridiculously huge calibers.
I just recently picked up the S$W 460 Magnum myself (no that wasn't a typo)
I LOVE the gun, it's AMAZING and the lesser rounds, ie...454 Casull and .45 Long colt shoot like a dream, but if you need the extra power, say for hog hunting, shooting rogue buildings, slightly budging the rotational direction of the planet, the 460 is awesome.
You can expect to pay around 900$ US for the S&W, but in my experience, unless it's been used quiet a bit, the others really aren't that much cheaper, maybe only 100$ or so.
The reason that these big bore guns are hard to find is because the manufacturers are busy making smaller carry guns to fill the market gaps that we're currently seeing. People want carry guns, so the manufacturers only retool the lines ocasionally to crank out a run of the big ones that we like...
Just the way it is, it'll be like that for the next couple of years at least.

Yeah, the Freedom Arms iron are too pricy. The 460 Smith would be the one I guess. No experience with the Raging Bull series that Taurus make, maybe I should look at them. I couldent see that they had any bigger than 454though...

Two more years with low production of heavy caliber revolvers..... How are we going to survive?

And yes, admitting is the first step. However, I dont suffer from it, I enjoy it....
