Heat guard falling off!!!!

i recently picked up my mossberg model 500 persuader, needless to say i was excited because i had been waiting so long for the money to get it. The gun came with a heat guard that was already installed over the barrel and i thought it was a pretty convenient and nice accesory for the gun. however, a few days later when i picked it up, the heat guard just kind of fell off im pretty sure it was just because of a crappy welding job by mossberg, cant think of any other reason besides bad luck im just gonna have a friend of mine weld it back on, but has this happened to anyone else who had the heat guard already installed when they purchased it??

I've heard of it happening alot actually.

You'll have to get a smith to put it back on, probably.

I chose not to go the heat shield route with my Mossy 500...(See my Piggy thread for pic.)

I just don't see what possible realistic use a heatshield has.

(I know what they SAY it's for, but, I don't see the use.)

Just buy one of the aftermarket heat shields for about $25, I think it is same as what comes on them. Before I did that I would call Mossberg, they will probably send you one.
