Hearing protection

I need some suggestions for hearing protection...

I tried a $70 set of electronic ear muffs. Worked well for a while then developed noise. Also, it is really hard to put on a hat with them.

I am looking at behind the ear, similar to the Walker Game Ear. Just hate having to spend $350+++ for a pair.

I know this isn't what you are looking for, but I had my hearing checked two weeks ago and it has been getting worse due to firearms. My ENT recommended these: http://www.espamerica.com/default.aspx. Very costly, except the $160.00 Silencer model. I understand what you are saying regarding electronic muffs. I had a pair and returned them within a week. Currently I wear plugs and muffs. I tried a pair of Walkers (behind the ears) at a sportsman show and the sound was truly amazing, along with the price. Oh, according to a hearing loss chart, the number one and two cause is 1) jet engines and 2) firearms.
