They are at it again....at least where i live.

Savage "Package Deals" avail. in 243 / 270 / 30-06 / 7Rem $299
Remington Semi-Auto: was $539.96 now:$399
Rem. Synth. Auto 12g: was $410.86 now:$250
Winchester M70 30-06:was $349.83 now $250

These prices were "observed" at the Cobb Pwky. store location for those familiar with metro Atlanta.Should be nation wide though??

I think some of these mini super walmarts are getting away altogether from the sporting motif while the stores in rural areas will still be heavy into hunting since Walmart knows they can make a buck there while the vast majority of urban dwellers desire to be sheep.

I am seeing this in Dallas as well which due to infestation from outsiders is not the bastion of conseratism many think it is. In my Church and at the Church School we contribute to, the kids are taught by many teachers that Christians don't own guns. My, wife, God love her jumped on this like white on rice and told the administration to stick to the three r's and the Bible and leave the politics to us. In my church, when I tell folks I hunt and shoot, they look at me like I have third eye in the middle of my forehead.

It would not phase me if you saw Walmart get away altogether from selling guns. Additionally, it may be left up to each manager on what they do or don't do no to mention local and state infringements.

Its Christmas, some items are on sale.. like popular hunting rifles.

Damn makes me want to see a Winchester model 70 ;)

I already have a shotgun, and a number of rifles.. but that is some sale.

My list of "to-get" firearms still contains a semi-auto shotgun.

Might be time to make the short trip out to the local Wally World...

Good point Dr. Rob but as a student of the Walmart marketing philosophy, I have noted that these low ball prices have been going on since last summer and some of the stores are demphasizing hunting and fishing while others embrace these worthy endeavors depending on the locale you are in.

I too noted the Savage Rifle $299.00 Bonanza. I saw a Model 70 at $300.00 but the bolt was deeply pitted.

Use that female logic <ducks thrown shoe>, if you buy it on sale you are actually saving the household money.

My aunt works at a Walmart in Quincy, MA and I was shocked to hear that they don't sell firearms.

KPS-
Think about it.....liberal, gun-hating Mass.
I would not be surprised if they lock people up for drawing a picture of a gun in that "state".:barf:

Quincy Ma, isn't that the Berkley of the east coast? My dad used to concider it a sport to watch the freaks walk by in Quincy. No offence to our Mass. members, I have family there but it is Quincy we are talking about.

Yes, Boston is Liberal headquarters.I live on Cape Cod but unfortunately many of the Boston Liberals are buying summer homes here and making it worse. Not surprising though. Ted Kennedy lives just around the corner.

I got a flier the other day from Sports Authority. I was irritated when they stopped selling handguns but they have doscounted their longarms. Remington 870 Express for $200 - with the 28" buckshot barrel. Stainless steel/wooden stock Ruger 10/22 for $180. I might have to change my mind.

speaking of people drawing pictures of guns...if your kid draws a picture of a gun at school, you can bet your last box of ammo that you will be in a teacher/parent conference by the end of the week. What a discrace!

I have always wondered what would happen if you went into such a conference and said "Yes, we hunt and have lots of guns. he likes them. Now, explain to me why you are wasting my time, stifling my child's creativity and making him feel like he is bad when he is not?"

Mike ;)

I heard James Dobson speak on the subject of toy guns and chidren last night. He stated that this notion of 4,5,6, & 7 turning into monsters because of playing with toy guns and swords is hogwash!

He goes on to puport that bullying and anger are what is causing children to use guns not playing with toy guns. The next time this subject comes up with some of my fellow parents and church memebers, I can't wait to quote the modern-day icon of Evangelical Christian Child rearing. Yee!!! High!!!!

Maybe we should send some Dobson tapes to Bentonville, AR to Walmart. Father Sam Walton was an avid bird hunter and would be turning over in his grave if he knew what was happening at some Walmarts now.
