Another example proving the "attack from all sides" approach to gun control. They didn't mention the new rate, but it's gotta be a lot less than what those pirates in Chicago are asking.
In my email:
"The Carson Rifle & Pistol Club (NSRPA, NRA, and CMP affiliated) is fighting for the right to continue to lawfully use the indoor range that is located at the high school in Carson City.
We helped build the facility in 1981, and for years have maintained and utilized the facility for club activities without incident.
Our safety record is impeccable. School district officials "booted" us out of the facility last October, and we have been fighting to regain access to the facility ever since that occurrence.
Insurance is now the stumbling block, and the school board is meeting Tuesday June 13th at 7:00 PM to decide our fate. A strong showing of people at the meeting supporting our use of the range, may sway the board to vote in favor of changing insurance carriers to one that is, if not pro-gun, at least not anti.
The meeting will be held at the Carson Community Center located on the corner of Hiway 50 East, and Roop Street.
Just to give you a little more background on the insurance issue. We are insured currently for $100,000 each occurrence, with a $1,000,000 aggregate, and the high school is named as an insured on the policy.
Coregis is the school districts current insurance carrier, with Marsh Insurance Company out of Reno the underwriter.
Coregis is based in Chicago, and is evidently anti-gun as evidenced by there total lack of support for the clubs use of the rifle range.
The school district has gone out to bid for insurance, and Coregis is offering an aggregate policy of $500,000, the school has to cover the first $100,000 liability of any occurrence, all for the low price of over $7,000 per year.
Compare this to our club's policy of $100,000/$1,000,000 that we pay an annual fee of $500 for, and I think you start to get the picture.
Other insurance companies have submitted bids to the school district, but there is a higher overall cost than the current carrier, Coregis. It is imperative that we convince the board that the slight increase in cost is worth the independence gained from an out of state vendor, that is dictating to the community what we can or cannot do in our facilities.
Please pass this information on to anyone that has an interest in our battle. I encourage any supporters to show up on Tuesday, and show the school district that law abiding gun owners are not to be trifled with.
