"He didn't give the burglars a chance to escape"

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

Yeah, only eight years, real nice. He gets time because he didn't announce his location to potentially armed intruders. Real nice. Now we have to tell burglars, "Here I am, please run away"

With a growing number of black market firearms(which gun bands aren't stopping), a Brit is increasingly likely to get shot in a burglary, yet it is supposedly wrong that he didn't make his presence known to these kids.

Maybe he shouldn't have shot them, but 8 years is rediculous, they knew they were breaking into someone's property and potentially scaring the hell out of that person, they should have expected to get shot, but thanks to the government, they don't have to worry about that as much anymore. Government helping criminals, my bleeding heart just got all warm inside.

Big Wow, how about US President guilty of sex assault, carries a little more weight than brother of British Home Secretary I think.

The majority of US states also legally require you to withdraw from a threat wherever possible, places like NC and Florida being the exceptions rather than the rule. A lot of people here in bad bad Britain, (or England as I prefer to say these days since every other jackass is going down the Republic road so why shouldn't we) have enormous sympathy with Tony Martin, but he did everything wrong and would have been convicted 10 times over by any court here or overseas.

First he said at a public meeting that he was willing to kill gypsies if he caught them robbing his property. Second he illegally procured a shotgun, obviously for that purpose, a pump action as opposed to the farmers more traditional side by side barrelled weapon, and thirdly he told police that he was in bed when he fired, ballistics evidence clearly showed that he was sitting halfway up his staircase in a sitting position when he fired. Finally he ran away after the shooting, adding to the presumption of guilt. Anyone who thinks that you can do this many dumb things and still be acquitted on the grounds of justifiable homicide is either deluded or Texan.

If one enters my home without my explicit invitation, he has to face
the consequences. Follow my orders to the letter and be spared. If you
don't - oh well, if I kill a LEO, it's open season.

Any burglar knows what he's doing. If not, their elimination might
enhance the gene pool.

I believe the last person who advocated forced gene manipulation through selective genocide was one Adolf Hitler.

If you are required to use lethal force to end a life threatening encounter, then do it quickly and decisively, but I personally wouldn't crack jokes about it, there's little that any right minded person would find amusing about killing people. Nor do I think it right to kill people over "stuff", I'd rather let them have my TV and do without the self recrimination and nightmares. Sometimes lethal force is the only available option, and I agree with anyones right to use it, but those who smack their lips at the prospect have issues that don't sit well with firearms ownership.

"...is deluded or Texan." :) Did anyone else notice how many times information was "leaked" in this story? Looks like they got some problems over there that need to be plugged... figuratively and literally.

"... Texan" heheh :)

This wasn't meant as a "US vs UK" thing. I was pointing out that politicians are the same everywhere - lowlifes, perverts, etc., and judging by the 1025-pound fine imposed on Straw, they can escape accountabilty everywhere.

In the US there was FORCED Sterilization of "undesirables" a few decades ago... I think that counts a Forced Gene Pool manipulation. Oh wait that cant happen in the US! Just goes to show you how much the government cares about the people, and what they are willing to do.

Also Mike if someone breaks into your home when you are currently there, you have NO idea what they are willing to do, but chances are they will harm or kill you if they find out you are there.

Intelligence is not required of everyone who enjoys liberty or freedom. Intelligence is only one of the attributes required of those who establish, maintain, or restore those Rights. ;)

By the way, "You ain't from 'round here, are ya?" :D
