HCI News Release

I appear to be the only individual who noticed this. At least I have seen no dicussions or comments made about it elsewhere.

About a week ago, Handgun Control Inc released information on various states abut the presence of private machine-guns in various states. Texas of course topped the list in total machine-guns and total dealers. Though the per capita wasn't anywhere near the top and the media pointed this out. I was rather pleased with that part at least.

My point is as follows. The ATF has always said that they cannot release any information about this kind of thing, not even to the extent of a total count, because it is priveleged tax information. Indeed, if you read about going through the process, one of the points brought up is if you are going to be impatient and want information on where in the process your request is stuck, that you have to include a waver with the original tranfers info.

Now is it just me or is there either a clear violation here or HCI is lying out it's ass? I would like some input from members here before I go writing a letter to congress, the NRA and any media outlet I can get to listen.

Hmmmm. My guess is a bit of creative estimation mixed with outright lies. HCI is well known for distorting the truth. Any bets that they are pulling records of illegal machine guns confiscated and pawning them off as real numbers of legally owned full autos?

Sorry I missed this as I usually make it a point to keep up with the creeps to see where they are headed this week. Thanks for the heads up about the heads up the a$$ HCI.

We could of course use this to our advantage by boasting the safety record of the number of full autos legally owned. Since the NFA there has only been 1 instance of a legally owned NFA arm being used in a crime by it's legal owner. Outstanding record! One that can't come anywhere close to being matched by any other privatly owned *anything*, inlcuding kitchen appliances. My hat is off to all the owners of any NFA covered items for a job well done.

Ok. It wasn't HCI, it was The Violence Policy Center.

Source: Commerce in Firearms in the United States, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, February 2000; ranking computed by the Violence Policy Center.

You can find it on their home page. Now. I thought it was illegal for any of this information to be released for one. For another, who can authorize its release?

Get this. Ran a search on the BATF web site and produced an artilce which has a reference to this at the bottom.

Commerce in Firearms in the United States is the first in an annual series of reports that will present data collected by ATF and other federal agencies relating to regulation as well as major developments in the firearms industry.

Thanks Creynol3. I've downloaded this "volume", I will print it out and read it.

Stick it to 'em! RKBA!

The anti's dont have a leg to stand on on this issue, since legal full auto's are owned by the most law abiding people out there; it simply exposes their anti-gun fervor for what it really is.
