having problems with my black dog .22lr mags

Black Dog Mag problems

I too am having problems with the Black Dog Magazines for my Sig 522.

I have a video posted on youtube showing the problem in six different Black Dog mags, 2 from Sig, and 4 ordered from 2 other companies. At first I thought it was the weapon but as you will see in the video I made I can easily reproduce the problem with the mags out of the rifle.

Heres the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRdfLR8RhHI

Don't know what to use now, as its getting really old to have every 4th or 5th round hang in the magazine.

I'm open to any suggestions as I love the 522.

i watched your video and thats what happens to me. i can also tell without unloading the mag by pushing the top round in and sometimes it is slow to come back up. if it comes back up.

i took my blackdog mags apart and cleaned them spotless then put a very light coat of clp in the channels. this seemed to work until just now. i tested one and had the same problem again. maybe a coat of dry lube on the insides of the mags will work.

im highly disappointed with blackdog mags but im more upset with you all that praise such a defective product which led me to buy this garbage.

I would depress the follower as far down as possible ( use a wood or steel dowel ) and lube the heck out of it with Dri-Film Lube. Let us know if it works please.

And I am unfimiliar with those mags, can you disassemble them , and check for burrs ?

"And I am unfimiliar with those mags, can you disassemble them , and check for burrs ?"

yes you can. yes i did.

i haven't gotten around to anything. i do look for dry lube every store i go to but no luck. i hate to order just that one thing online.

I havent had that problem with any of the 6 bdm mags I have. Have you tried adjusting the tightness of the screws on the mag(s) youre having the problems with? are these mags that you trimmed the insides of to help with magwell fit?

Or you could just take a nail file to the follower and give each side a bit of a rub...hit all 4 sides, that should counter act any dragging on the sides of the mag.

went to the range yesterday, shot a box of federal 550 bulk with my 3 blackdog mags in the sig 522. worked great until the end when one mag got stuck. i did put a nail file to the mags a while back.

alright i emailed blackdog. but look what i found at their site:

i really like the looks of that! out of stock though.

Steel Feed Lips
Easy load-Thumb Pull down
32 rounds.

can it get any better than that??????

"Does not work with: Colt, DPMS, S&W MP15-22, nor the SIG522!"

o, i just got my bubble burst

wait, that wonderful mag is under the sig 522 section:

they emailed me back about my question on the new 3rd gen mags, will not fit the sig 522. but they never emailed me back on the problem im having with the black dog mags i use for my sig 522.

still, they have not responded to the email about their faulty black dog mags. i guess its too much trouble to deal with customers after they collect the money.

i shall email them again.

they did send me a pack of followers for free! not sure if thats the problem but at least they did that. i took the mags apart and put a light coat of wd40. seems to hold up. i did the same with some clp and that did not hold up after a few weeks, the problem came back.

I just bought a Sig 522 last week, and also picked up 8 BlackDog Mags, the Black ones. I loaded 208 Rounds total, and every Round fired as expected. I was doing some Double-Taps and Triple-Taps, and didn't have any problems with any of them. Sorry to hear you're having Feeding Issues. Hope the Followers fixed your Mags!

Cheers!
