Have you heard of this firearms advocacy group?

Are you even a member?

I ask as this is about the closest to the NRA or 2A Foundation (correct name?) that there is in Europe, but it has affiliates in even the most gun repressive countries (Democratic countries, needless to say)

I'm curious if it has any real presence in the US, and if so, with which group of firearms owners. Over here it certainly pitches itself as sports/hunting/collector/personal protection gun owners, so the whole gamut, really.

(Correct sub-forum? It was this or general discussion...)

I haven't heard of this before. Do you have any reservations about being known as a member?

There is a genre of arms owner in the US who will not join the NRA because he doesn't want to be on a "government list". Pre 9.11, I am confident that this was pure paranoia. Since then, our sense that anything may be private seems less circumspect.

Does this group lobby members of the euro parliament? Which MPs are seen as sympathetic to the Firearms United position?

In order to be eligible to purchase a firearm, one must be over the age of 18 and pass extensive background checks; those who suffer from mental illness or have a history of substance abuse are disqualified. Background checks are particularly stringent in regard to the mental health of a buyer, and the Federal Assembly is even considering a law that would punish doctors who misdiagnose or provide inaccurate documentation for mentally ill patients attempting to purchase firearms.

Never heard of them, but I ain't in the EU. A handful of news articles. It appears to be a Polish organization. I'm guessing ZBROJNICE.COM is an affiliate? Even though there are references to years prior to 2019, there isn't a whole lot of coverage before 2019. The site feels like something thrown together using WiX. :)

"Never heard of them."

Shame... they are about the only advocacy group that used real facts and figures to try and derail or slow down the EU proposals for gun restrictions.
They are very good researchers and they provided me a lot of info when I wrote to all MEPs to counter the legislative moves made in the wake of the Paris attacks.
