This seems to be a fairly new site but seems like a good idea.

From their "about us" page:

Gun store owners generally recommend what they have to sell. Likewise, gun manufactures give only positive information about the guns they produce. Magazine article writers often have financial incentives to write good reviews for the guns they evaluate. So, we decided to seek the shooters' opinion. You, the gun owner, take your guns into the field and onto the range and know what you like and don't like. We aren't here to sell you anything. We are here to allow you to share your opinions and to help make great decisions about your gun purchases. So join us, share the passion!

Here's a page where someone rated a Glock 19.
http://gunrater.com/gun-review/glock-19-gen4-9mm-15-1?showreviews=true#comments

I haven't seen any other ratings yet but I didn't do much digging.

What do the masses say? Did they have a good idea or will it tank?

Well, when I attempt to pull up very common pistols like the Beretta 92FS or a Sig Sauer P220 and get zero results - I have my doubts.

I had a 28-year career in marketing research. Those who rate on a forum like this represent a "self-selecting" sample. These types of samples (i.e., non-random) tend to be polarized: those who love or hate a specific firearm are more likely to do the rating. So, I doubt I would use this as my "decision-maker" if I were considering a specific gun.

That being said, I guess if you had a large enough sample of "raters", specific advantages or disadvantages could be revealed. As with EVERYTHING on the internet....be careful!

Other than "Glock" and "AR-15" I tried about 10 other searches and they all came up blank. If someone is going to start a website like this (not a bad idea) at least prime the pump a little!

I had better luck searching for specific gun names. SP101, Redhawk, and things like that.

It is a bit tough to find some models.
