Have you ever wondered...?

Just a thought.

Have any of you ever wondered if the ATF monitors this board, or if ATF agents are posing as members of TFL? Joining groups it sees as subversive to closely observe actions and incite others to commit illegal acts is a famous (infamous?) tactic of that bunch.

Be very careful what you say here, and be especially wary of anyone who might exhort violence or illegal activity as an appropriate course of action, either now or when things get REALLY bad. That doesn't seem to be a problem on this board, but who knows what goes on through e-mail discussions with the people met here.

No, I'm not being paranoid. But there is an entire apparatus out there (Government) that is poised to use any pretext it can find or fabricate to take weapons out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. Be careful...PLEASE.

I think if the ATF is going watch any thing they will keep a eye on my credit cards , gun store , Brownell's , The reloading store
We leave tracks ever were we travel .

I think it would be naive to think they wouldn't watch the board. Sometimes people say things they shouldn't...

Although, how easy is it to figure out exactly who you are? You are impersonating someone from your home town that you don't like, aren't you? :D

Oh yeah, and remember to access the net from the library rather than your home phone line... Otherwise the impersonation falls apart. DOH!

By the way, what do you think it would take to get the job at the ATF to monitor these boards? Can you imagine getting paid to keep up on this stuff ;)

We've chatted about this from time to time, and I think the general consensus is 'yes, so what?'. If they come after most of the folks on TFL, then the s**t has already hit the fan.

Have you ever wondered about Retired Government Officials? They are still on the payroll! It is conceavable that they could just be listed on a Retired list and that, in effect, they are actually working undercover for a Lettered Organization and in effect are still in Active Service... maybe even poseing as... oh say a Moderator?

Makes ya think don't it!?

Hmmm... If big brother has gone so far as to even infiltrate the ranks or the moderators we may be in more trouble than I thought ;)

You guys wouldn't happen to knoww anything about AR15.COM going down, would you? :D

I guess Jeff has a good point - "so what?" If they're wasting their time reading our posts and such then they're not concentrating on things that would actually matter...

You know they can watch all of us through our computer screens and TV sets. YEA RIGHT!

So what???????

Have we broken any laws??????

Are we inciting rebellion, law-breaking, anarchy????????

No, we're just ordinary folks talking among ourselves.

And talking never hurt anybody, Right?

Besides, we've got nothing to hide.
Can the Feds say the same?

I am paranoid enough to believe that they are watching.
As a retired government agent I realize that somewhere there is an active agent who is staking his next promotion on uncovering a grand subversive conspiracy among some otherwise harmless-appearing patriotic gun nuts on the internet.
Given our recent history who could believe otherwise?

Don't say anything on the Internet that you wouldn't say to anyone else that you are talking to face to face. The last time I checked this was still a free country (well sort of anyway) and we still have a 1st Amendment, protecting free speech. I have been surfing the net for the past year or so and as a LEO I can say that I haven't run across anything that I thought generated enough probable cause, to obtain a search warrant and kick some poor unsuspecting, so called patriots front door off the hinges and have a SWAT Team make a dynamic entry. What I have seen is one heck of a lot of very distrustful and concerned people who are very affraid of their own government. This is not the country that I was born into and served in its armed forces in combat for. As Bob Dylan said in his imortal song, "The times they are achanging" and not necessiarly for the better. 7th Fleet

Okay, consider this-- some A.T.F. agents may well be reading this board... for their pleasure. Guys, as much oppression we may perceive from the BATfmen, a lot of them got into that field because they are really, really interested in guns. Yes, there certainly is an inherent aristocratic philosophy in that Bureau that only certain people should have guns, and a paranoid sense that all guns should be registered to their owners, but that doesn't meant that BATF guys aren't interested in them on their own personal time.

Now, do I think that some of them might then go cruising through, looking for obvious indicators of felonious activity? Sure. Wouldn't you? (Strike that question...) This is only one more reason why we absolutely have no time for the odd question (which is thankfully very rare) in regard to how one may get around registration requirements in a state illegally, or aquire a firearm that it is illegal for that person to aquire. We just don't play that game.

Because we won't put up with that kind of activity here, we're just not too very interesting to the rabid BATfmen who would go (virtually) storming through our board in search of seditious or "suspect" activity. The only ones who stay are the ones interested in guns.

We deserve our privacy, but that doesn't necessarily mean we have anything to hide.

I know a fella who lives around Spring Branch, TX. (N. of San Antonio). He used to be a field agent for the FBI in that area. He tells that he just simply got tired of all the BS from the agency, and intereference from other agencies. One day he just decided to call it quits. He now deals in firearms out of his residence. A very pleasant fella, really. Not a stiff fella, you know. ;)

This guy has some real stories too. Some he says he cannot tell, because he doesn't want to goto jail.

I tend to agree with most TFL'ers, in that I really don't give a darn if the board is watched. I don't think anyone here is stupid enough to start off a situation that would be considered inflammatory enough to elicit a visit by the 'MAN". I believe that most here are a cut above the rest, we have the ability to gather our thoughts, and have the intelligence to NOT say something we know we'll regret later. It's that degree of control that extends beyond (y)our typing skills, it's that degree of control that makes you a rational, thinking person.

Since the price of gasoline has risen again, consider this my 0.7 worth.

Just recently, an S. Florida 18 yr. old was arrested when he sent an AOL instant message to another AOLer who happened to be a Columbine student. The message was something along the lines of 'I'd like to finish the job'.

I don't know that BATF spies are watching us, but I bet they'd happily lap up any free publicity tossed their way by an injudcious post.

Personally I don't care if we are being watched or not. I have nothing to hide.

If they want to waste their time so be it.
The only thing wrong is that we are all paying for it.

Keep the Faith.

So what? Who cares? I've got nothing to hide.
If they get their jollies off reading this stuff so be it. I have not seen anything here printed that I would worry about. But as Ed says you get some over zealous rookie agent looking for his next promotion well things could turn into things that were not ment to be. Yeah well what are we to do?
My hero is still the FBI agent who busted the guy with the Indian Headress, Our tax dollars at work!

Happy Shooting :)

7th Fleet, IMHO you really hit this nail on the head. Too many of us now wonder what country we're living in - it doesn't resemble the country we studied in our youth.

Doctors, factory workers, lawyers, business men and women, union members, LEO's, military - they come from all walks of life. Far from being a majority, they are the exception rather than the rule. But for those that discuss the issues of freedom and limited government, we look at others who seem so accepting of more and more governmental control, and ... they seem like so many automatons. Issues like Waco, the RKBA, asset seizures, jury nullification and such are, for them, somewhere out there in what is left of the ozone. ;)

Their eyes almost glaze over when such issues are raised, and they respond with emotional arguments, a shrug of the shoulders, or that most perceptive of comments, 'well, the economy is soooo good'.

When governmental goons decide to attack those who cherish freedom, personal responsibility and the historical foundations of America, well then I suppose we'll all know what time it is.

In the meantime, we have at least two clear choices - we can keep our heads down, and our mouths shut; or, we can study history, debate freedom and personal responsibility, and speak our minds to promote what we see as a better world.

And, for those government lurkers who are enjoying this thread on 'company' time, let me just say 'Hi Mom!', and Charles Schumer eats poop. ;)
