Here's the deal. In my state, CCW is legal except for the usual gun-free shooting galleries - schools, courts, airports. So, it's legal for me to carry it to the car. It's legal for me to carry it out of the car and into the grocery store, or theater, or comedy club. But believe it or not, it is illegal to carry the loaded "firearm" in the car (the law doesn't distinguish between long guns and pistols or those with CCW).
Because it's concealed, i don't want to have to load it and strap it back on every time i get out of the car. That really detracts from the "concealed" part. The penalty for getting caught carrying in a car is rather severe, at least from the perspective of a law-mostly-abiding citizen.
What would you do? Besides lobbying for a change in the statute, i mean.
