The latest fad among some gun belt makers is bullhide. Bullhide is an extremely low quality leather imported from Mexico at low cost. Bulls are killed for their hides at a much older age, and therefore the leather tends to be raggy and full of fat wrinkles (soft spots in the leather). You will observe that many bullhide belts have stiffening "inserts" in them to overcome the leathers deficiencies. This is completely unnecessary with best quality cowhide, and is clear evidence of bullhide's inferiority.

Not all bulls are left as bulls. Most are not as far as I know. A bull raised for meat and/or hides is castrated before it reaches maturity. They don't live long enough to get fat wrinkles. Mind you, who knows what goes on in Mexico.
 
kydex inserts are just fine, lots of quality holster/belt makers use them. using kydex is way better than using way thick leather which is a dead give away that you are carrying a gun (just like a black leather fanny pack screams gun). the bull leather I am not sure about but kydex lined or reinforced belts are all I have and will use and is nothing wrong with them.

I use Bull for some of my leather gear, it works FINE....actually the wrinkles, fat rolls, stretch marks, brands and such give the leather character, it looks NICE when finished.

I have had some seriously soft leather that needed stiffening, I just do that or use it for other items that are OK when soft/pliable.

They really do give the finished leather a nice look.
