Hello,
I have a Hatfield full stock in 50 calibre that I’d like to sell to a friend. What is a fair price?
Photo’s are attached. The rifle was purchased in the mid 80’s and is decently well made.
Thanks in advance.

$450.00 to $550.00; My SWAG

Keeping in mind, that he is your friend but you sure you won't regret selling it? .... ;)

Being as Hatfields are semi-custom rifles and sold for around $700 in the late 1980s, I would expect one to sell for a bit more than $350. $500-$700-ish, I would expect, but since they are so hard to find they might draw a lot more.

i had a .36 FL and it was a very good rifle, the only problem i had was that it had a very tight .36 bore, and i had to have a special mold made for it. after that it was the cats meow. i would think it would start at 400.00 and go up.eastbank.

I like em !!!

I'd be interested in buying the rifle even though we have never met. If not, is that whiskey crate for sale? Great range box for M/L's ... ;)

Stock Repair

On close examination of the Hatfield rifle there is a repair done near the cheek piece. It appears that the repair was done by the maker during the initial construction.
How does this impact the value?
Thanks and regards.

All depends ???

How does this impact the value?
Sadly it will but to what degree, depends on demand and how bad someone wants it. It is an excellent repair and finished out pretty well. Even at that, if I were the maker, I would not have let it go out that way. Those guys had/have too much pride in their work. .....

$600 plus.

Hatfields could vary in quality with the earliest ones being better. Many were made on demand of the customer. I know because I tried buying one myself over fifteen years ago. Hatfield took my order and folded (thankfully no money sent to him). I wound up taking gun building classes on my own.

I bought a Hatfield for $600 new back in 1987. It was a nice gun with beautiful wood and fit and finish. Wish I hadn't sold it for $300 in 1999.
