Has Ebay just gone NAZI?!?!?

I was watching a Ruger MKI .22lr magazine (9 rounds) and a pair of walnut grips for same yesterday and now they're both gone from my watch list and all of the seller's auctions have been deleted. This is not even "assault weapon" stuff. What the hell is going on there???

I've also noticed recently that alot of the knife/cutlery dealers are gone....or are "no longer a registered user".

I suspect that it was a problem with the seller. There are plenty of grips and mags still on Ebay.

You might have just been saved from a fraudulant seller.

I don't know, I was bidding on a set of grips and got an email from ebay saying it had been pulled..kinda sucked cause I realy wanted 'em. I tried to email the member and see if they would be relisted our if they were still for sale (fishing for him to offer a straight out sale) but never heard anything...
I have no idea. Ebay didn't offer a reason for the pulled auction.
I do recall reading on their site somewhere that they have had a policy change recently but I don't know what it incompassed.

It took three clicks to find the applicable eBay policy statement. It looks like a 9-round magazine and walnut grips were fine, so someone in the vetting department may have gotten overzealous in pulling the auction, which might explain why they're back again.

Firearms
eBay does not permit the sale of firearms. This prohibition applies to any item designed to propel a metal (or similar) projectile, and includes all sporting, collectible, curio and relic (C&R), antique and "pre-ban" firearms. "Pre-ban" refers to firearms restricted in Title XI, subtitle A of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. There is no exception to this policy for items that no longer have the capability to fire a shot.

Firearm Parts and Accessories
eBay does not permit the sale of any assault weapon-related parts or accessories. This prohibition applies to all parts and accessories related to any firearm defined as an "assault weapon" by federal or California law.

eBay does not permit the sale of firearm receivers or firearm frames, whether complete receivers and frames, components and parts of receivers and frames, or "cut" or "80%" receivers. eBay also does not permit the sale of any parts or accessories prohibited for sale by federal or California law, including items related to short-barreled shotguns or short-barreled rifles, fully automatic weapons, large-capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators and camouflaging firearm containers.

eBay does not permit the following firearms-related items: silencers, converters (items that can be used to give a firearm automatic capability), kits that can be used to create a firearm, flares, flare launchers, flare guns, flare gun receivers, silencers, short barrels ... and any illegal firearm-related items.

eBay permits listings of all other legal gun parts and accessories, including trigger guards, firing pins, barrels, stocks, butt plates, trigger assemblies, pistol grips, holsters and scopes.

BB Guns, Replicas, Blank Guns and Imitation Guns
eBay does not permit the sale of BB guns, air guns, black powder guns or muzzle-loader guns. eBay permits paintball guns, "airsoft" guns, and replica, "look-alike," and imitation firearms under certain circumstances. "Airsoft" guns may only be sold domestically in the United States. The "airsoft" gun must be located in the U.S., offered only for domestic shipment and the seller must be located in the U.S. Replica and imitation items must have clear markings permanently affixed to the items to the extent required by federal law (commonly a blaze orange plug inserted in the barrel), and must not be readily convertible to shoot a projectile. These rules apply even to novelty items designed to look like firearms.

Ammunition and Bullets
eBay does not permit high-capacity magazines (magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds), ammunition with propellant (such as gunpowder) or blank ammunition. eBay permits other non-propellant items used in "reloading bullets" such as brass casings, bullets, and reloading tools. Sellers must state in their listings the actual capacities of any magazines listed.

Militaria, Ordnance and Grenades
eBay does not permit sale of equipment and supplies issued to and formerly used by United States Armed Forces that have not been disposed of in accordance with Department of Defense demilitarization policies. Sales of such items may constitute violations of federal law.

eBay does not permit ordnance (military weaponry, ammunition, and related parts), even if the item is "unserviceable" or has been "demilitarized" or "demilled," as eBay cannot confirm that the item has effectively and permanently altered for lawful and safe transport and sale. However, unserviceable military-type weapons may be listed if the listing contains a clear scan of official documentation from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) stating that the item is unserviceable or demilitarized. Contact your local ATF office for more details on obtaining such documentation.

eBay does not permit grenades, including metal military practice grenades, rifle grenades, dummy grenades, grenade launcher attachments, and mines. eBay will allow relics, curios, memorabilias, or display items permanently altered to prevent ready modification for use as a grenade.

PsychoSword,

I've had that happen sometimes; probably when they are servicing their database or some other regular operation some things temporarily dissappear from my watch list, only to reappear later.

I was selling some SigPro (9mm) 15-round magazines and it got pulled. I knew it when I posted it, but hoped it would go through - they often do. Anyway one guy placed a nice bid, but I didn't write down his name to do an outside transaction. eBay wouldn't help me with his user name even though I only wanted his user name because thats how I found items he was selling ;) - it didnt work.

Remember that

ebay is located in California, which makes them subject to the laws of this state.

As I read the law, a CA FFL could not sell a detachable magazine holding more than 10 rounds even to an out-of-state buyer able to receive it in that state. You are not allowed to transfer such items. It wouldn't be hard for a smart lawyer to argue that E-Bay is a party to the transaction... though they try very hard not to be, especially when someone gets ripped off.

They're not necessarily anti-gun, (although they may be, in fact, I don't know) they're just being very careful not to violate the laws of the state in which they're located. They're in CYA mode, and they may well be right in that regard.

I could wish that the developers, construction companies, fast food restaurants, and farmers out here would be as careful with respect to the immigration and employment laws, but that's another issue.

If you notice, a lot of the SKS stocks sold on EBay(military wood stocks or Tapco T6's) expressly say that they will not work with detach or high capacity mags. Yeah, right.

Every once in a while, you can find AK stock sets, but most are airsoft related.

A few weeks ago, I actually saw a Norinco SKS sold listed as "spare parts," which included a barreled receiver, trigger group, bayo, fixed mag, bolt/carrier...basically everything except a stock. The listing had about 24 bids when I messaged the guy a heads up. He messaged me back syaing that since he wasn't selling the lower receiver, he was legit. I guess he had a super rare SKS. :) A day later, it was pulled.

Having just listed a set of grips, I would point out that eBay actually has a catagory specifically for handgun grips, so it's safe to say that grips... are... well... safe.

I don't know why people bother trying to sell guns and gun parts on eBay. Why not just use GB or another gun auction?

Do a search for "bushmaster" and see how many EBR parts are available. I've sold tons of gun parts and reloading equipment on E-bay. You have to be careful with your wording and you should specify in the ad that these parts ARE allowed by E-bay rules.

We have a local trader paper that won't allow "assault weapons" and has a whole list of what is not allowed even though we don't have an AWB in this state. From this issue:

"Colt .223 semi-automatic rifle, two magazines..."
"Stag arms 5.56/.223 black rifle..."
"Yugoslavian 7.62x39 rifle..."

Anyone who knows anything about guns knows what they are buy they didn't get flagged because they don't have any tip-offs like AR, AK, etc.

Aparentally all of ebay has to follow CA laws. But at times i have seen 11 round Beretta mags for sale and have ended with bidders. So how come they can have 11 round mags but when i sell my conversion kits with 11 round mags they take it off their sight

Perhaps you should list them as "standard capacity magazines", rather than list a specific round count.

For no other reason than to keep money out of anti-gun pockets, selling gun parts on eBay is a bad idea.

I like the sales that clearly show a regular cap mag and state beneath it, "will hold 10 rnds". Well, it will... :D I've sold several that way on there purely to see if I could get away with it. Otherwise, except for some M715 Jeep stuff I don't do much of anything with ebay these days because of their knee-jerk behavior.

It's quite possible that the seller may have violated the rules. And, more and more retailers are on eBay daily looking for fake merchandise to report so those auctions can be removed.
