Has Anyone Used "Wolf" Ammo?

I've seen some very inexpensive ammo called "Wolf" brand which is made in Russia? Has anyone used it? If so, were you satisfied with it? I'm looking for inexpensive practice ammo for my 9mm. I'm also going to try American, American Eagle,& S&B. My carry ammo is either Corbon or Silvertips.
Thanks.

Some people like it , some don't. I haven't used their 9mm ammo, but in 7.62x39 thats all I feed my AK.

Do a search on this...there have been several threads on Wolf.

I've got some (9mm)...it's OK.

I've shot it out of my Beretta 92fs. It was the first and last time I'll ever shoot that stuff. It's smokey and dirtied my gun up real good.

I use it , but only in an AR with a 9mm upper on it. Don't really trust it enough to shoot in a handgun. It seems OK, but VERY dirty.

I'm on my 3rd case of 9mm this year. It works great for me. It is accurate in my guns, and it is dirty. I clean my guns after every shoot anyway, so that's no big deal to me. At under $100 per thousand, it's almost as cheap as reloading.

Cheap and dirty like most have said, use it in 9mm,.45 and 7.62x39. Groups well enough at the ranges I've used it at,under 25yds for pistol and 200yds rifle. One problem I did have was with the steel cases binding on each other in double stack mags, which caused feeding problems. Switched over to single stacks for pratice and no more problem. Keep your eyes openned, you can find brass cased Sellier& Bellot and MagTech at gunshows for near the same price and its better ammo. Just gotta find the deals.

Be careful what you ask for..You may get it.

Wolf 7.62x39 works fine in my AK. From what I've read I wouldn't use it in an AR15 or any pistols that I was fond of or counted on.

It worked well in my friend's SKS (7.62mm). I got it because it was onsale for CHEAP. It's fine for a gun you don't care much about. It looks like they have a good warranty on their ammo. I won't slam them because my experience with Wolf is very limited. But, I've heard enough about them to not use it consistantly.

Anyways,
Ben

Ammo that can break an extractor???

Not the extractor of an SLR-95. That thing pulls the empties just fine, and the ejector actually puts a dent in the steel casing. Maybe Wolf is just meant for tougher guns.

I have never understood the logic that permits an individual to spend hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of dollars to buy a top-quality firearm only to risk its designed/manufactured reliability, accuracy and durability to save a couple bucks a box on ammo.

I went through a couple of boxes with my Makarov. Like the gentlemen mentioned it is hot (for Makarov caliber), dirty, and cheap. At the end of the session as I was massaging my sore hand and examining the filth it left in my handgun I decided to stick with normal loads, shoot more of them even though it might cost a little more. It will probably save on wear and tear in the long run.
I can't attest for other calibers and you didn't mention if you were using 9Makarov or 9Luger.

I`ve put a few hundred rounds of Wolf 9mm through my CZ-75 and it worked fine. Good accuracy,a little dirty but no big deal, smells a little funny when you shoot it (not bad just funny). I figure it`s basically the same as Soviet or Warsaw Pact military ammo which the CZ was expected to shoot anyway. I plan to buy and shoot a lot more of it. Marcus

I've had some failure to extract problems with Wolf ammo in my Firestar. Someone at the range asked me if it had a steel case (it does) and suggested that might be the problem. I'm going back to run some defensive rounds through it (Speer 124gr +P)to see if the problem persists.

I ran some Wolf 9mm Para through my G17 and CZ 75B with no problems. Seemed a little hotter than other 115gr FMJ stuff I used for range fodder. My FEG PJK HP9, Hungarian High Power clone, had a few failures to eject with this ammo. One case was stuck inside the chamber and had to be tapped out with a cleaning rod. Once I finished all that I had decided not to buy anymore steel case stuff for my pistols. Just my preference, FWIW.

The smell when you shoot it is from the lacquer burning off. The Makarov (TCW 109gr) stuff I have had lots of luck with. What is packaged as Wolf looks just the same. The 9mm and .223 I've used has been crap. I had a round lock up my CZ so hard it was all I could do to pull it apart. I'm lucky I didn't break my extractor.

I just bought a case. No problems so far. I'll let you know. I'm shooting this weekend. There should be no problems out of a Ruger,or a Glock.

I have "heard" that leaving a loaded round of Wolf in a very hot chamber will melt the lacquer and cause sticky extraction of the loaded round if it was left for a while in the hot chamber. Don't know if this is true or not.
