I couldn't find how much they charge,,,
So I signed up for an account an started the process.

Shipping a handgun from my small town in Oklahoma to my state capital came to $39.00,,,
That beats the heck out of the $70.00 that UPS wants to charge me.

Just for the heck of it I also started a shipment to Seattle, WA,,,
The fee was the same $39.00.

Anyways I thought I would toss this out to the members,,,
I have one gun I need to send in to warranty,,,
This will save me $31.00 in shipping.

It's part of Bud's
They are using their Bud's account at UPS to ship your gun.
Note that you still have to ship from a UPS Customer Service Center......you can't use a drop box, pickup, or any third party retailer like a UPS Store.

That's if you do not purchase insurance.
I highly advise insuring the firearm for full value.

I can ship your handgun via USPS for less than what shipmygun.com charges.;)

Hello dogtown tom,,,

I can ship your handgun via USPS for less than what shipmygun.com charges.

Okay. :)

But will you?

And are you near me?

The last time I tried to ship a handgun,,,
I went to my local UPS Customer Service Center.

Before insurance it was overnight express at exactly $70.00.

My LGS will ship a gun for me but he charges a flat rate of $40.00.

This just seems like a decent deal.

Sure, I do 3-5 every week.

And are you near me?
I'm in Plano about an hour south of the Red River;)

Yep. That's why I don't ship handguns FedEx/UPS.

Is that their fee, or is that transfer, shipping/insurance/adult sig for $40?
If it's everything why would you use Bud's?
If it $40 + shipping/insurance/adult sig........you need a new FFL.

Thanks Aarond, for the heads up.
I had to ship a handgun recently for service and was kind of shocked that I couldn't do it easily for a reasonable price. Something near three times the amount over what it costs me to walk into a USPS office and ship a long gun... ridiculous. My preferred LGS simply replied, "I don't do that", when I asked.
Sometimes it can be a difficult situation for some and it's nice to know that there is an easier, more reasonably priced option out there for those of us outside of Plano! :p

I recently bought a pistol on gun broker, it was shipped in a small "if it fits it ships" box, usps, dealer to dealer, for like $4.95, and I paid a $25.00 shipping fee. My question is this on the up and up?

It is $39 because that is the default price. Call the people on the list and see what they will ship it for. Most will do it for standard transfer fee + actual shipping which will be USPS priority mail.

So might be able to find $15 transfer + $15 USPS flat rate.

If it was in warranty, why are YOU paying shipping?
Secondly, as mentioned above, a FFL can use the USPS and ship for less.

Perfectly legal.
Many dealers do not use USPS insurance, but use a third party insurer. The price of insurance will not show on the USPS label.

Sometimes the manufacturer refuses to pay shipping back to the warranty depot. It sucks but it does happen.

Either way 90% of the time it i cheaper than UPS or Fed Ex.

Had this problem with Taurus.
Had to pay them $50 for shipping for warranty work. Went to the LGS where I purchased the gun, he wanted $85 plus a background check (still scratching my head on that one).
FedEx & UPS wanted $100 & I had to drive an hour to a CS location. USPS wouldn't touch it.
