Has anyone used CCI Minimag +V .22lr ammo?

I just picked up a box of 50 to try out. They seem to have flat nose copper-washed bullets but CCI literature doesn't mention them. ANy ideas as to velocity/weight/suitability for defensive uses (if other calibers are unavailable)?

My Ruger MkII seems to favor CCI ammo, especially the (too expensive) Green Tag. CCI makes a round called the Stinger (I'm pretty sure) which is much higher velocity and has a hole in the point of the bullet.

Oleg, I've always carried Maximag +V 22mag ammo in my NAA minirevolver. It is the fastest out of a short barrel - check out the NAA website, www.naaminis.com. I didn't know that they made it in long rifle...

Try Rem. vipers, they are solid tip hypervelocity rounds. They feed better than many hollow point 22 rounds I have tried, and in my FEG 22 are the most accurate out of the mid-priced 22 brands which I have tried. Happy shooting

You might want to check out the new quick shock 22 cal rounds.Specific for self defense they split into 3 pieces after they hit.

Quick Shoks are nice and so is that new Antigua (sp) 30 grain stuff. Its faster than a CCI Mini Mag just be careful what you shoot it in. I KA-BOOMED a Taurus PT-22 with just ONE mag full of it. It split the slide at the point where it goes under the tip up barrel. Taurus fixed it but I got a nasty note in the box with the free trigger lock (thats another thread) saying dont use high pressure ammo in it. My Ruger MKII and 10/22 love both of these rounds. I have heard of quality control problems with the Antigua stuff though.

If you really want a defensive solution, I don't think I'd be looking at .22LR.
