Has anyone used ammo from Freedom Munitions?

Ordered a couple cases of 9mm and .380 from them this spring. Gone through probably 500 rounds of the 9mm and 250 of the 380 so far, no complaints.
 
Yep, from what I was able to find out when they first showed up earlier this year, Freedom Munitions is/was the part of USA Ammo that did their re-manufactured ammo.
 
I use their blaster stuff for target practice with my 308's. Works as good as any i have used and just as clean. Only thing with the blaster stuff is that is is loose in the boxes. Not really an issue for my intended purpose.
 
I just ordered a box of 250 147 grain 9mm to try out. It's about the same cost as the Graf dealer price for American Eagle 147, but it's always good to have alternate sources of ammo.

If it works out, I'll try the 45 ACP next to feed my wife's next gun (right now a S&W Scandium 1911).
 
Shot 50 of the 55gr 223 (prize table at a 3-gun match). I did not check accuracy but they felt consistent and no problems. The 223/5.56 price is ok but nothing special for bulk ammo. The 308 with premium bullets hits a nice price point, although I have not tried any. They just started a brass buy-back program. Send them a minimum of 10 lbs of mixed brass in any caliber they reload and they will credit your order. Might be good for calibers I saved brass for, but I will not reload.
 
Freedom Munitions .380

I just purchased 250 rounds of .380 from Freedom Munitions, after reading both positive and negative reviews.
Since they are reloaded ammunition, I checked each round for OAL when I received them. My reloading manuals indicate a OAL of .975 - .980. The SAAMI specs indicate a .954 for .380 ammo.

Unfortunately, of the 250 rounds, 150 rounds had an OAL between .935 and .952, and 100 rounds OAL between .953 and .966. That's a spread of .935 to .966, or .031. When I reload .380, my OAL spread is about .005.

I opened 50 rounds between .935 - .949 and reloaded them myself, reusing the brass, primer, and bullet. Of the remaining 200, I have 100 with an OAL of .953 and .966, which I feel confident about. The remaining 100 have an OAL of .950 to .952, which is questionable.


Has anyone else ever verified the OAL of any ammunition from Freedom Munitons? This wide spread of OAL may be the reason some reviews have referred to things blowing up, or breaking. The pressures generated by these reloads could be dangerous in a .380 handgun.

I have shot their 9mm, 380 ACP, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP.

The only complaint I have is that the 45 seemed to be very dirty and I had a good amount of unburned powder kicking out. This was in 5" 1911s.

Other than that, they have been great. Never had a problem of any kind.

And as a +1 for their customer service, one of my orders took place the morning of Sandy Hook, before the event. So the rush happened and their ordering service online did not employ real-time inventory at the time (it does now). They ran out of 40 S&W reloads before fulfilling my order, but honored the order and shipped me the same number of rounds I ordered, but NEW ammo instead.
