Has anyone switched barrels in their G-23 to the .357 sig?

I was thinking about purchasing the .357 sig barrel for my G-23, I would like opinions on the accuracy, price and how it affects the gun? Maybe even reccomended ammo!

I have a Federal Arms .357 Sig barrel in my G23. They cost $90 from Lone Wolf (www.lonewolfdist.com). It works quite well, and seems to hold good accuracy (haven't benchrested it yet). I've used Blazer, REM-UMC, and Speer "Lawman" FMJs in it.

I have used both Federal Arms and Bar Sto not in the G23 but in a G 22. The Fa was a ported version. REcoil was arrested but I don't really like ported barrels. If you do, this is the among the best I have tested.
As might be expected the Bar Sto barrel gave gilt edged accuracy and excellent function, yet it was a drop in. With Federal's 125 grain JHP, accuracy was better than I had ever obtained with the .40 and premium ammunition. The gun worked well with either barrel. Lead bullet loads, with hard cast LaserCast bullets, worked great.
The Bar Sto is el premium. One group measured 1.25 inches at 75 feet off a careful rest. My gun has Aro Tek night sights, similar to NOvak.
Also have had good luck with lead bullets and conventionally rifled barrel for G22 in .40, from Jarvis. But it was fitted. Fitting reduced slop and wear.
Hope this helps.

Make sure you have a second or third generation frame (finger groves). Glock recommended the original (first generation) G22/23 not be converted to 357 Sig. The frames are different.

I bought a Federal Arms .357sig barrel for my G23 (second generation) through a group purchase on GlockTalk. I believe we each paid around $73, delivered - a significant savings.

The barrel produces acceptable accuracy, equal to or perhaps a bit better than the factory .40 S&W barrel.

Yes, it is really nice. The 357 (for mine) is sticks out a little and is ported. So you get the feel of the 40S&W and the knockdown power of a 357mag.

Enjoy your new barrel,
John

How good is the fit with the Fed. Arms barrels ? Does the ported barrel surppress the recoil a lot or a little?

My FA barrel was a drop in fit, requiring no modification. It fits just fine. It is not a compensated model so can't help you there.

I bought the FA .357 for my mod 23 and it dropped in with no problem. It's a bit more accurate than the .40. I have the comp barrel and it seems to have about the same recoil as the .40 with 155 Gold Dots. The comp barrel really reduces muzzle rise. I like
it.
