Has anybody tried new polymer Taurus 85?

It weighs an ounce more than your 85

It looks like a toy and isn't even lighter than your metal framed revolver.

I just don't see an advantage to it. I guess I like the high visibility front sight.
 
I don't understand why people buy poly revolvers. The metal ones can be made lighter!! Now with ruger?? They can't make anything lite weight out of metal only sooo!
 
It would be better if Taurus put their time and money into quality control of their existing products instead of introducing new products.

I agree with your comments: it looks like a toy and it is ugly, though the pro is the red dot sight.
Instead, I think I'd better add a S&W shield:D to my collection
 
You know, a lot of what is said here may bear true. That is to say "xyz is better than abc", "why polymer over xyz airweight?" and things like that.

Well guess what, some people like the feel of certain pistols compared to others, some have mentioned the red hi viz front sight as a plus (I think the T comes with 2 grips std), and believe it or not, in this climate we are in some people can not always find exactly what they want due to supply. AND some people can not afford what other people can and they still have a right to own a pistol. ("Well, just save up." Yeah, well, they may feel the need to protect their family NOW)

Too much judgemental crap going on.
 
Looked at one at the LGS last Sat morning. It is definitely ugly and the trigger was heavy and pretty rough...kind of typical Taurus in my opinion.

What's one of these run? The ruger is about $450 and is going to be better than any taurus.
 
I have an all-steel, older 85 and an airweight 85. If it's not lighter than the airweight I have to ask....why??? The airweight is already uncomfortable to shoot any amount with +P, why would you pay more for a polymer version? There are times I carry the airweight instead of its steel cousin, but I can't figure a reason for a similar/heavier polymer over an airweight.
 
Has anyone ever heard of a major police dept. letting officers carry a Taurus on duty? There are reasons for that. They see a lot more of them on the range than any individual. They have never had enough luck with them to approve them for official use. It's not uncommon for one new out of the box to be worn out of acceptable time before enough shots are fired to qualify. You'll always find someone who had one or more and never had problems with them so they know more about them than the range armorers who have dealt with hundreds.
