Has anybody recently bought Port. 7.62 from Samco?

Wondering whether this surplus is free of corrosion:confused:, and whether it is considered very reliable for use in a bolt-action Mauser 7.62 (FR8).

Any info is appreciated on their Portuguese 7.62x51.

Port is not corosive. Port is great shooting surplus . I have used it for years in every thing from a converted Mauser to a H&K 91 and it is clean shurefire accurate surplus ammo.

YES, Good stuff, Should be in 200 round vinyl battle pack unless they were broken out. So, yes, corrosion
Free and non corrosive.:D
HTH

You will find a few corroded rounds in many battlepaks. Most battlepaks are not vacuum packed and normal atmospheric moisture is sealed inside. I break down any sealed battlepaks I buy and put the catrons in USGI ammo cans with a dessicant pak.

Thanks very much for your info.:)

The only decision now is whether to buy a chunk of this 7.62, or be patient for several weeks and hope to spot another FR8 for a FTF purchase, Memphis/Jackson TN (etc) area.

I have reloaded a limited amount for my FR8, but wish that somebody could forecast whether another nice Spanish FR8 would increase in market price more than surplus 7.62 ammo.

Would you guys venture just a best guess about this?

I'd buy the ammo myself rather than wait for a non papered FR8. But that's me. rather shoot what I have than wait.

Instant self gratification, I always say. Turn money into noise. Smile. Repeat as required.

Is this the "CAVIM" ammo?

Had great experience with it, when first camoe out in late 80's.

Can only get three reloads, then neck severely split.

Haven't tried any current stuff, hope this helps.

Is this boxer or berdan primed???

Great NATO surplus ammo, ordered mine years ago when it was $134.00 per 1K case delivered and still have a few cases in storage
