Has 8mm ammo supply dried up?

I recently bought an 8mm Mauser M48A model as did a million other guys. I picked up 900 rounds of surplus ammo. Some online ammo sites are running out. Is this due to the post Sept. 11 buying frenzy or has the supply of decent surplus 8mm Mauser ammo dried up? Are importers scouring Turkey, the former Yugoslavia and other nations where it was produced?

Have any of you researched this?

Thanks

At least from what I saw at the gun show last weekend, I don't think the supply is drying up. I saw bandoliers of Turk ammo (70 rounds on strippers) going for about $5-6 each. Plus some really decent prices on commercial 8x57. Check out www.miwall.com for the commercial stuff. The S&B is full-power 198 grain loads and the white-box 185 grain stuff is loaded to US specs (i.e., low-pressure).

Semper fi,
Bruegger out.
