Can anyone direct me to a site that explains the different models of Harris bi-pods. I've done a few searchs and cannot find the Harris web site...does one exist? Better yet; who is the cheapest source?
Just looking for a short light model. What is the swivel feature...I don't think I want it unless someone can convince me.

Many Thanks!

Well, since I bought another one (model L) yesterday, I happen to have their mini-brochure on my desk.

Model BR. Lowest of them all - best for shooting off a bench. Bore height will be 6-9".

Model L. Most popular model. Prone or bench. Height 9-13".

Model L M: Notched leg version of above with seven height settings.

Model H: For prone or sitting. Height 13.5-23".

Model 25: Better for sitting shots at elevated targets. Height 12-25".

Model 25C: Tallest of the bipods. Useful in snow or for very tall people. Height 13.5-27.

Hope this helps.

Brian...

I think Kernel pretty well covered some sources for you although I would include http://www.midwayusa.com . In my experience, "cheaperthandirt" is probably the least expensive. If you can handle the extra $20, I'd suggest the swivel version of any of the Harris models. I have both and I certainly prefer the swivel versions, especially if you're shooting on uneven terrain. They're the next best thing to using a benchrest - maybe even better sometimes.

Good luck and good shootin' ;)

I have 3 Harris Bipods and they are the greatest. I didn't know they made a swivel and I may have to look as I want my M1A to have that capability. The ones I have 6-13 and I think model 1A2. I like the added wieght as well and the looks. Check locally, shipping can get expencive but shipping is FREE at http://www.midwayusa.com

Good luck
Karsten

Thank you for the responses. You guys are most helpful! I've narrowed it to the 9-13 model. I think it's the dnrsports place that lists them for $47 while others list the same for $65 and up.

Don't waste your money on a non-swivel.

Make sure you get the swivel model! After using the swivel model and then trying to go back to the non-swivel later was not very easy. I have the model 25 S for hunting and I have the model L S for benchrest and target shooting up to 1000 yards! They are one of the best accuracy investments you can make in a rifle.

I have the model L that's great off the bench. I have never seen an S model. Could you guys explain what and how the swivel functions?

The swivel bipod looks and works basically the same as the non-swivel except that it has a spring loaded hinge at the apex of the legs which allows the base of the bipod (and attached rifle) to "rock" from side to side through about 30-40 degrees of arc. The spring provides enough resistance to prevent the rifle from simply "falling" to one side or the other, but it does allow you to set up on a mild slope and tilt the gun to one side or the other to level it. Pretty slick.

I would agree with the other folks - although the other Harris bipods beat no bipod at all, the swivel versions are just "a little bit better" - and $20 more expensive. I have some of each, but I prefer the swivels. ;)
