Harrington & Richardson 922 OR 949 ?

A few days ago I posted a thread about the H&R 949 revolver I intended to buy... Since that day I started wondering if I should not better go for the H&R 922 that they also have for sale. I tested both, at the range next to the gunstore, and both are accurate and nice well made revolvers...
I let you be the judge; first pic the H&R 922 , second pic the H&R 949...
I realy would like to have both but that's not an option right now (not wanting to go trough the long and heavy procedure of registration, background checks, etc... all over again and pay the tax, which is almost the price of the gun, again) so I gotta settle for only one.

H&R made millions of these .22 revolvers and most are pretty much the same but the profile. All else being equal, choose the one that is the most appealing to you.

I had a double action gun not the second one.
GREAT gun!
Simple and reliable as claw hammer!
good sights,
Mine was a 4" a great trail gun.9 shot

A major difference in these models...>

...is in the manner of removing the cartridge cases. The 949 has a "normal" SAA type loading gate & ejector rod setup.

The 922 requires the cylinder pin to be pulled and the cylinder taken out. The pin is then used to push out the cartridge cases although there's a star ejector there also, I believe, which would push them all out at once. Nevertheless, the cylinder must be removed, (and can be loaded when out too, if you don't want to load singly via the gate).

Apart from that, the 922 has adjustable sights. I'd probably opt for the one in the best condition, but I do have a fondness for the 949.

My H&R 922 doesn't look like yours at all,,,

Mine has a skinny barrel,,,
Yours has some type of ramp thing on it.

It's a decent enough range toy,,,
Mine is a surprisingly accurate shooter,,,
But there are better revolvers to be had out there.

I paired this one up with a Crickett .22 rifle,,,
It's very lightweight so the youngsters can handle it,,,
Using a support they can easily pop clay pigeons at 15 yards.

Okay ...
Today I went back to range and after that to the gunstore next door...
I made up my mind and bought the 949... It was in better condition than the 922 and I just liked it more.
Now I'm waiting for the permit to fall in my mailbox and get back to the store to pick it up and bring it home.....
