Harrington Richardson 44 cal double barrel

Hi Im try to find info on a Harrington Richardson Arms co. 44 cal double barrel With the serial # 1250 It has a patent pend date of Feb 27 96 The 6 might not be right its really worn.It has outside hammers ,there is 44 cal marked between the barrels. there is some infancy ingraving on the sides the stock is checkerd.THe barrels are 25 3/4 " inchs .Dont no what else to tell you . I have a couple pics ill try to send ,dont no how clear they are. Any info on gun, date, or value would be great. Thanks

Those guns were made for a cartridge called the .44XL. It was really the .44-40 loaded with a shot capsule (No. 8 was the most common). It was intended for use on small game and some consider it the predecessor of the .410. Even though the bore is unrifled, .44-40 cartridges could be fired for larger game.
